Is Mahershala Ali coming to HBO? Deadline reports the Academy Award-winning actor is in talks to join season three of True Detective.

The crime drama has been in limbo since its second season ended in 2015. Earlier this year, HBO boss Casey Bloys said series creator Nic Pizzolatto was still generating ideas for a new season and in March, we reported that Deadwood creator David Milch had signed on to develop season three.

According to Deadline, Ali is currently in negotiations to star in season three of True Detective. As of now, it’s unclear what role he’ll be playing on the HBO series if the deal goes through. We’ll post updates as they come.
