Despite declining ratings, in March of 2016, AMC gave Better Call Saul an early third season renewal. While it has never been a huge ratings success, the Breaking Bad prequel is one of the network’s top-performing shows that doesn’t involve the zombie apocalypse. AMC continues to promote the series and even ran Breaking Bad marathons ahead of this season’s premiere. Can Better Call Saul build up its audience? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned. **Status updates below.
A black comedy crime drama hybrid airing on the AMC cable channel, Better Call Saul kicks off six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White’s lawyer. Jonathan Banks, Michael McKean, Patrick Fabian, Rhea Seehorn, Michael Mando, and Giancarlo Esposito also star. In the early 2000s, Saul is still down-on-his-luck Jimmy McGill. He’s trying to negotiate the ethical dilemmas of the legal world, emerge from his older brother’s shadow, and make a name for himself. Armed with optimism and a quick wit, Jimmy is a legitimate lawyer who often finds his ambition at odds with his moral compass.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

I don’t think y’all are counting your rating correctly. Me and my wife have been looking forward to every season. Heck! I leave work early to watch it even though I have a damn DVR! C’mon next season!
Better Call Saul is the one show I look forward to each week. As this season progresses the connections to Breaking Bad are becoming more apparent. Bring on Season 4!!
Erratic, disjointed, unfocused, disconnected, improbable, occasionally bizarre and not getting better; seemed to be (SLOWLY) getting even worse. But I kept watching and hoping — given the connections with the superlative Breaking Bad.
Then, late last year I saw the extraordinarily condescending, didactic video during which the venerable political genius Mr. Odenkirk patiently instructed poor, lost, unsophisticated, uninformed me how to vote — I’m saved!
So, why bother, I don’t need this. Haven’t watched it since, don’t miss it (I’ll now have time to reread “Prophets Without Honour”). But, best of luck for the avid fans. To each his own.
As a BB and BCS fan I agree with your critical assessment of the show itself.
Not sure what Odenkirk’s political leanings have to do with anything.
The show is anything but disjointed, if you have issues following it, the problem is you, not the show.
I have no clue what Odenkirk’s political persuasion is and I don’t care in the slightest since it has literally nothing to do with the show, but it’s OBVIOUS that you are one of those people who care about politics more than anything else in life, and you clearly let that nonsense skew how you view the world.
I watch and enjoy better call Saul but it is a test of endurance. There is less comedy and the storyline of Sauls brother and his “issues” are as boring as ever. There is nothing interesting about the brothers storyline and could have been over in Season One.
To sum it up – most people I know who are watching it are watching it to see the tie in with Breaking Bad. Had this show been before Breaking Bad I’m afraid I would not still be watching it.
Better call saul: Excellent show, love it! Exciting story, great actors… just wow!
Do not cancel! Would love to see the show catch up with the storyline of breaking bad.
Terrific show don’t stop complete the series
I love this show! I really hope it’s not canceled!
I agree it’s been slow, but I’m engaged as season 3 wraps up. I hope for at least one more season!
Cancel it. It’s very boring.
I really hope this show will continue until it catches up with where Breaking Bad began. I like when they go back and forward in time, showing us Jimmy before he became a lawyer and Jimmy/Saul after he’s went into hiding as Gene at Cinnabon. Yes, please keep this on the air – I am not a fan of zombie programming.
Great show! Don’t cancel. Sometimes the smarter writing isn’t recognized by the masses. Why not show respect for intelligence, not everyone voted for
Trump!!!
This is a brilliant show. Love it and hope it will continue. Some of the shots are better than the BEST movies.
They need to get rid of the princess protector and bring someone in like the doctors daughter to be their guide. Get rid of all the teenage whining. It should be Science-fiction instead of a teenage soap opera.
Please do not cancel! This is the best season yet. It would be horrible to end the show now that all these great characters like Gus have returned. I can’t understand why the ratings would be down .
Give it a chance! Breaking Bad is a hard act to follow. I look forward to watching and hope it goes a few more years.
I am totally into this series. Every single nuance I appreciate and thoroughly relish Monday night… my demographic is 70+ years,
My demographic is 18-45—and I agree with you!
I love this show .. Having watched Breaking Bad prior , I was wondering how they would pull this off? They are unraveling every week the complexity of how an easy going guy like Jimmy can turn into Saul Goidman… Saul was actually likable enough when he was on Breaking Bad.. I love Mikes character on here too! It’s sort of the opposite / Breaking Bad , his character not so likable on this show , you see a more sweetheart of a man that you didn’t see on the other shows. My only critique is au feel they were… Read more »
