It’s a dark time for fans of Dark Matter. Deadline reports Syfy has cancelled the TV show after three seasons.
The sci-fi drama follows the crew of a derelict spaceship who awake with no memory and who must work together to survive a threatening voyage charged with vengeance, betrayal, and plenty of secrets. The cast includes Marc Bendavid, Melissa O’Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr, Jodelle Ferland, Roger Cross, and Zoie Palmer.
Ratings for Dark Matter have been low for some time. Overall, season three averaged a .15 rating in the 18-49 demo and only 614,000 viewers, making it one of Syfy‘s lower-rated TV shows for the 2016-2017 season.
On his blog, co-creator Joseph Mallozzi confirmed the show’s cancellation and thanked the fans, cast, and crew:
It is with great sadness that I confirm the news. Syfy has cancelled Dark Matter after three seasons.
To say that I’m incredibly disappointed would be an understatement.
I’ll save my comments and field your questions in a future blog entry. For today, I just want to extend a heartfelt thanks to my amazing crew, my wonderful cast, and to all of you, our incredible fans.
You all deserved better.”

this is so crazy – every time I like a good Science fiction show and not this junk the sci-fi channel usually puts out they cancel it. This show was amazing absolutely amazing. Cant watch the new start trek nonsense with their political correct agenda they stuff down our throats. Hope they change their mind. otherwise I hope amazon will help Dark Matter continue producing the show – they are in every other business improving services and the way we buy, why not go into the movie business and show these channels how it is done !! you got my… Read more »
Great show, actually got to see the episodes in order since it is on Netflix ,on the third season now. Was hoping for at least 5 seasons.
I simply love this series and would love to see a season 4. Had been sceptic at season 1 and just tried out but its really good syfy
Every time i find a good show its cancelled… Why?? Its so Munch crap out there but cancelled this show i dont understand.

A great show from SYFY channel that didn’t deserve to be cancelled. Great characters, drama, story. Syfy should consider renewing the show for Season 4. Bring back Dark Matter we want the crew of the Raza back!!!

Deeply sad, I did enjoy the show and although I could never watch in on-air, thankful for ability yo watch as streaming content. My career time demands do not allow to watch with the masses. Thank you Sci-Fy wished the showed could have been continued

Dark matter was one of the few sci-fi shows I watched I see no reason to continue cable after you cancel this one
I loved Dark Matter and would love more seasons. It’s one of the few Syfy shows I watch without fail. It seems I no longer need cable anymore.

Just really sucks! To many loose ends. At least they should bring it back to tie up the ends of the series!!! Man just finished watching it on Net Flix and to stick it like this ending is worse than the stranded cast aways on Gilligans Island!! What are we gonna have to wait 25 yrs for the finale??? Of course they canceled Dark Matter. It was actually scifi. Instead we get the same weak reality shows that are on every other channel because even though they are crap, they are cheap to produce.
Killjoys is the only show left I’ll watch on this channel. Hope they find the target market they are looking for. But the name should change from syfy to stupid reality tv channel.
