Despite Days of Our Lives being the lowest-rated of the four remaining network soap operas, NBC hasn’t dropped it. It looked like the network might cancel the series last season but they renewed it in February 2017. Will it be renewed for the 2018-19 season (season 54) or, is this venerable soap in its final days? Stay tuned.
Premiering on November 8th of 1965, Days of Our Lives is set in the Mid-western town of Salem. It revolves around the members of the Brady, Horton, and DiMera families — along with their friends, enemies, and lovers. Castmembers include Lucas Adams, Kristian Alfonso, Lamon Archey, Camila Banus, Nadia Bjorlin, Mary Beth Evans, Billy Flynn, Galen Gering, Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Olivia Rose Keegan, Lauren Koslow, Eric Martsolf, Chandler Massey, Marci Miller, Casey Moss, Stephen Nichols, Melissa Reeves, James Reynolds, Suzanne Rogers, Christopher Sean, Freddie Smith, Sal Stowers, Josh Taylor, Greg Vaughan, and Vanessa A. I have been watching Days of Our Lives for so many years now I feel like the cast members are part of my family. I just spoke to someone who’s in her 90s who also watches the show and feels the same way. The show runs the gamut as far as the age of the viewer is concerned. And we need another talk show in the afternoon like our cities need another shopping mall! Please don’t cancel this well-respected well-rounded entertaining soap. Love Days of Our Lives we tape the show and we watch after work. if cancelled I would not be watching whatever talk show you replace it with. rumor has it would be for Megyn Kelly show. I use to watch her on fox news, but the dynamics of that show and her today show are not the same.
Please don’t cancel Days of our lives. I have been watching this since I’ve been a child. I love this soap and would be lost without it. As would a lot of other people. We would be at a loss and don’t need another talk show.
I have been watching Days since the very first day it began. As for cancelling I would be very disappointed in NBC to think ANOTHER talk show could replace this show. The history and intricate family dynamics make it worth the viewing time every day. Bringing back so many players of the past these last few months has been wonderful, especially Sami. Realism is boring! Keep Days from being taken seriously. It’s satire. It’s entertainment. I quit watching when Chandler Massey was replaced and now I’m thrilled that the Corday& Co. came to their senses and brought him back!
Best soap opera hands down! Been watching since I was 4. I’m now 37. Love all the characters and actors that portray them, please don’t cancel!
It used to be so much better
I have watched Days of our lives since the 70s. I look forward to watching it each evening because I record it on the DVR. If a special report or some other interruption happens I watch it on my i Pad.
I do hope the writers can come up with stories to raise their ratings.
I don’t like the return of dead people. Try to keep it real !
I have to disagree. There are lots of characters I miss and want back on the show. I wouldn’t care if half the cast was comprised of people returned from the dead. If I want realism only, there are hundreds of other shows I can watch. Part of the fun of a soap opera is that it can infuse some fantasy into the drama of the show. I have watched DOOL since the beginning when I was just 7 years old, and I still tape it and watch everyday along w/my 30 year old daughter so I hope they do not cancel this soap ever!!! I was very upset when Another World was cancelled it was the favorite Soap of the 70’s so plz NBR don’t cancel Days!!
Days is the one tv show I cannot miss ever!! I have watched live and through umpteen recorded ways in the 54 years since the beginning!! I LOVE the show and the actors, who are the soap actors who love and honor their fans the most!!!!
My wife and I would not like to see the show canceled but the stories that the new writers are coming up with are crazy. The actors that have left the show must be laughing uncontrollably and the actors who have passed away must be rolling over in their graves.
Please. It is a “soap opera”. It is all about the craziness! That is why we love it. Better than the unrealistic “reality” shows and unending talk shows.
