Get ready for some scary news. The Exorcist TV show has been renewed for a second season on FOX.
Based on the 1973 film, the horror drama follows two priests as they try and tackle a horrifying demonic possession. The cast includes Alfonso Herrera, Ben Daniels, Kurt Egyiawan, Geena Davis, Alan Ruck, Brianne Howey, and Hannah Kasulka.
Ratings for The Exorcist were never very good. Airing on Friday nights, the show only earned an average rating of 0.68 in the 18-49 demo and 1.91 million viewers, making it one of FOX‘s lowest-rated series for the 2016-2017 season.
What will season two be about? Back in December, series creator and executive producer Jeremy Slater said, “I love these characters and this world and I have a lot more story to tell… My general response is that the characters that survive 9the first season] finale and still have interesting stories to tell — you will absolutely see them again in the future if we have one. Partially because I think we’ve create a big and exciting world with a mythology that we barely begun to scratch the surface of, and I think there are stories to be told in this world to be told for years to come.”

Fox made the right decision….retire the played out Sleepy Hollow and give The Exorcist a chance for fresh blood with viewers!
I’m surprised it was renewed. I like The movie and anything good and scary. The first few episodes were good but it got slow and a bit convoluted. If the story is better the 2nd season, I’ll give it another try.
I have to say that when I heard Fox was going to do a Exorcist series I thought ” Oh brother , how bad can that be ” .. BUT … I was pleasantly surprised with how well the show is written and how they took something if done poorly could have been an easy train wreck , and made a seriously good show . It’s NOT cheesy at all I am happy to see it returning

This show felt so real, it’s scary. It’s work of art. Fox are supernatural geniuses! Can’t wait to watch Ellis and Daniels in another full season. May there be many more!!!

If I could speak to fox for five minutes, I could give them a gazillion ideas because this show can last so many seasons, but I think they know what I’m thinking. Fox is supernatural!!! They are the best at what they do.

I was not a big fan of the movie, but I really liked the twists and turns of this series. I am pleasantly surprised that Fox has renewed it. Thank you! (This goes a long was in soothing my ire at losing “Sleepy Hollow.”)
At first, if I’m honest I didn’t think much of the first episode having seen the film. But I stuck with it and what a fantastic series it turned out to be. So glad it’s been renewed for season 2.
