General Hospital: 2016-17 Season Ratings (updated 9/26/17)

Published: September 26, 2017

General Hospital TV show on ABC: ratings cancel or renew?)Perhaps because ABC owns General Hospital outright, the network sometimes doesn’t announce if their sole surviving soap opera has been renewed for another season. (They didn’t make an announcement about the 2016-17 season.) Of course, they’d certainly let us know if the show had been cancelled. Will GH survive to see a 55th season  (2017-18)? How will it do in the ratings? Stay tuned.

Debuting on April 1st of 1963, General Hospital revolves around the loves, lives, and deaths of the people of Port Charles, New York. The current season’s cast includes Vinessa Antoine, Maurice Benard, Teresa Castillo, Tyler Christopher, Matt Cohen, William deVry, Chad Duell, Sonya Eddy, Jane Elliot, Kathleen Gati, Nancy Lee Grahn, Carolyn Hennesy, Rebecca Herbst, Roger Howarth, Finola Hughes, Lisa Lo Cicero, Billy Miller, Kelly Monaco, Ryan Paevey, Haley Pullos, Brytni Sarpy, Kirsten Storms, Robert Palmer Watkins, Maura West, Laura Wright, and Dominic Zamprogna.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available. You can see how the ratings for the four soap operas compare here.

Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.

For comparisons: The 2015-16 season of General Hospital averaged a 0.75 rating in the 18-49 female demographic with 2.77 million total viewers.

A&E | ABC | AMC | Bravo | CBS | CMT | The CW | FOX | Freeform | FX | FXX

I love General Hospital. I have an issue with the man landers storyline. Chat, Amy’s brother is a wounded veteran and suffers from PTSD. HIS CARE SHOULD AND WOULD BE COVERED BY THE VA system or by choice. It leaves us believe he needs to cover his own medical care costs. That itself could n Be a story line in itself the Veterans either lack of knowledge or recuLance to use the VA or a failure in its system and the suicide rate of veterans.and the care givers of such veterans. You’ve taken on other issues maybe this is one… Read more »

In some places vets are sometimes over looked. I have a family member who experienced the issues Amy has. The constant phone calls to Veteran Affairs tend to get ignored, or false promises are made.

Please keep GH on the air. I do miss AMC and OLTL. There arenothing but game shows or reality shows on other channels. There are soaps on CBS but they’re not GH!

Well, ABC you managed to make two huge mistakes by eliminating AMC and OLTL. Do you really want to think it wise to make it a third?

I love GH I’ve been a huge fan since 1992 and have been watching ever since! While I admit like anything in life there have been “Ebbs and Flows” the show has remained a constant in my life and I have enjoyed watching the various characters come and go (some of course more then others). My hope is that it remains on air and if anything needs changing perhaps it can be improving some of the writing! PLEASE SAVE OUR SHOW!!!
