Hit the Floor: Cancelled; No Season Five for BET TV Show

by Trevor Kimball, December 7, 2018

Hit the Floor TV show on VH1: canceled, no season 5It’s game over for the Hit the Floor TV show. The scripted series has been cancelled after three seasons on VH1 and a fourth season on BET.

The Hit the Floor TV show revolves around the lives of the LA Devil Girls dancers and the LA Devils basketball team. They live in a world of fame, money, power and sex in professional basketball. In season three, familiar faces (as well as new dancers and basketball players) fight to stake their claim under the red-hot spotlight of the LA Devils nation. The regular cast includes Brent Antonello, Katherine Bailess, Kyndall Ferguson, McKinley Freeman, Tiffany Hines, Jonathan “Lil J” McDaniel, Jodi Lyn O’Keefe, Cort King, Kristian Kordula, and Teyana Taylor. Guests in season four included Logan Browning, Dean Cain, Tank, Terrence J., and Erika Jayne.

The eight episodes of season four finished airing in August of this year. The fourth season averaged a 0.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 383,000 viewers. Compared to season three on VH1, that was down by 78% and 71%, respectively.

“At this time, BET Networks will not be moving forward with a fifth season of Hit The Floor,” the company said in a statement. “We are grateful to the most passionate fans ever who helped to bring one more season of the #DevilsNation to the screen, and the incredible cast and dancers. We would especially like to thank and recognize the acclaimed Executive Producer and Creator of the series James LaRosa for his passion and vision. We look forward to finding ways to continue in partnership.”

What do you think? Did you enjoy the Hit the Floor TV show? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled and not renewed for a fifth season on BET?

I knew with the new cast. Hit the floor was not going to make it. I could barely watch. I had to change the channel. Awful . The regular main cast were the best when the show started. They actually thought bringing Teyanataylor would make this show a hit. NOT!!! It was more like “Miss the Floor”

I’m sorry the show is cancelled but not surprised. The show retained very few of the original cast members which could have done more to bridge the two year gap. I was also surprised that Season 4 only contained 8 episodes so there wasn’t really enough time to really develop the characters of the new cast members. The season finale also felt very much like a series finale which I guess is a good thing now that the show has been cancelled.

I miss the old characters especially Asha and Derek. Also Terrance and Jelena. Tyanna Taylor did not mix well. We waited so long for Derek and Asha to unite and then they were pulled apart with a story of abortion and Derek’s character took a dive. Very Disappointed fan.
Disappointing!!
