Home & Family: Host Mark Steines Out as Hallmark Series Co-Host

Home & Family: Mark Steines and Debbie Matenopoulos

When Hallmark viewers tune in to the Home & Family TV show tomorrow morning, it’s a safe bet that they won’t see Mark Steines as co-host. The cable channel has released a statement that they have parted ways with Steines. His bio has already been removed from the Home & Family portion of Hallmark’s website. Read an update here.

Here’s the brief and straight-to-the-point statement from Hallmark:

Statement by Hallmark Channel
Issued on May 31, 2018

Today Hallmark Channel has parted ways with Mark Steines as the co-host of the network’s lifestyle series “Home &Family.” We are extremely grateful to Mark for his incredible work and wish him all the best success in his future endeavors.

A former correspondent and substitute anchor on Entertainment Tonight, Steines helped launch the current incarnation of Home & Family in October 2012. Paige Davis was his first on-screen partner. She was replaced by Christina Ferrare a month later. Debbie Matenopoulos replaced Ferrare in 2016 and now, it appears Matenopoulos is the show’s sole host for the time being.

It’s unclear what caused Steines to leave the program so abruptly but, with the current climate in the industry, one can guess that we haven’t heard the end of this story. It may be something as simple as May 2018 was the end of his contract. When Ferrare was replaced, there was little acknowledgment.

Steines hasn’t made any updates to his social media accounts or website. His Instagram post on Memorial Day indicates that all was well on the Home & Family set.

What do you think? Will you miss Steines as co-host of Home & Family on Hallmark? Will you still watch the program?

Read an update here.

Home and Family has made it very clear that they do not value anyone who is past 40 years of age or if you are even slightly overweight. Remember when Kym Douglas was required to lose weight? I doubt if we will see Kym on the show again. After all, she is in her fifties! Probably a year from now everyone who is presently on the show will be gone, if the show stays on the air that long.

I will not be watching Home and Family now that Mark has been let go. Debbie thinks she is so cute and the new format of pets and cooking just aren’t my style. Sorry, Hallmark, I liked the show before. Mark’s wit and humor made the show enjoyable.

I will not miss Mark. Anyone can get a laugh at someone else’s expense. He seemed to me to be somewhat of a Bully.

It seems the program is at hyperspeed. It appears the DIYs have a short time frame and hosts have to speed through it and talk uncomfortably fast. Mark was a likeable cornball and will be missed. They seem a little too happy on the show. We need joy and kindness and that’s mostly what I get from the show. Debbie and all the people are really informative and wonderful. I will continue to watch

I do not like the way hallmark handled this. Very unfair to Mark and his costars. They come across as genuinely caring for each other. I think Mark was a perfect fit with them and the show. This is a mistake. Hallmark is in the business of helping people show and express their love, compassion for others in a variety of life events. The way Hallmark treated Mark does not reflect those characteristics. Shame on Hallmark. I will not be buying Hallmark cards or other of their products.

Was sad when you let Christina go and now Mark? Debbie seems so fake and interrupts everyone. I won’t be watching until you replace Debbie.

Loved this show. Recorded it every day or watched live when I could. Wasn’t happy after they got rid of Christina. Gave them another shot because I loved Mark. Kim, Ken, Paige and a few others, while still missing some others they let go. So sorry and disappointed that I will not be watching anymore. A really great show that they insisted on ruining. Obviously don’t know who their real audience is or just don’t care.

I was not happy after Christina left the show. Didn’t like how it was handled and I don’t relate to this Debbie at all. Mark was easy relatable and he seems sincere in his approach to the cast, the guests, and the audience. Very likeable and genuine. Debbie comes across as fake and as a self important person. I don’t know if she is that way but she comes across that way. I’m sorry to say I won’t be watching daily any longer.

Home and family is my favorite show. I record the program daily. Mark Steiner was great, loved his quirkey sense of humor. I’ll miss him hosting the show. All of the show staff are great.

I’m hoping he chose to leave for new challenges and not due to network cost cutting measures.

Well I was utterly upset and irate when Christina was fired such that I stopped watching the show. Now mark is gone. No chance I will ever start watching again. Hallmark does not live up to it’s image at all
