Airing on the CBS television network, Kevin Can Wait stars Kevin James, Taylor Spreitler, Ryan Cartwright, Mary-Charles Joes, James DiGiacomo, Gary Valentine, Leonard Earl Howze, and Leah Remini. The sitcom centers on Kevin Gable (James). In the first season, this former police officer yearned to revel in his retirement. The second installment opens a year after the events of the season one finale. Now, in the wake of his wife Donna’s (Erinn Hayes) death, Kevin finds himself working for his old rival, Vanessa (Remini), at her security firm.

Telly’s Take

Will CBS cancel or renew Kevin Can Wait for a third season? Season two started with very good ratings, but they quickly dropped after the premiere. However, this sitcom has remained fairly strong since then. It remains one of the network’s best-rated comedies so I think that it will be renewed for a third season. I’ll keep an eye on the ratings and will update this page from time to time. Subscribe for free updates on any Kevin Can Wait cancellation or renewal news.

12/2/2017 Status Update: CBS increased the Kevin Can Wait season two episode order from 22 to 24 installments. Details here.

5/12/2018 Status Update: Kevin Can Wait has been cancelled by CBS. Details here.

Donna’s departure from the show was rude & abrupt – they did mention her in the first episode of season two when mail from a health club arrives in her name & Kevin says something along the lines that he had cancelled it & he will handle it – She was also mentioned when their daughter was getting married – not much after – Donna took some getting used to especially when you watch reruns of King of Queens every night LoL – After a few episodes I thought she held her own & by the end of season one… Read more »

I think the biggest problem with the show was the handling of Erinn Hayes’ character (Donna) departure at the end of Season 1. The producers didn’t handle it. At the start of Season 2, there was essentially no mention of Donna’s departure, and no mention of her since. It’s as though Donna never existed. You would think that Kevin and the kids would mourn the loss at some point, right? I think the audience retaliated by turning away. Sorry, Kevin, but I liked Erinn.

I love Kevin James in anything. He is a funny man. I like the show better with he and Leah Rimmi back together. I really hope it does NOT get cancelled!

I find Leah’s sense of dry humor extremely funny and she obviously has a great chemistry with Kevin on the set , it’s not funny enough to watch . I stopped watching weeks ago . The skits are predictable, not amusing and disappointed as I know some of the writers are very talented . I hope it’s renewed but I won’t watch it anymore .

I think they should kill off Kevin James the same way they did his wife and keep Leah on.

Never liked it when they killed off Erin Hayes. It was over for me. Should have left the show alone and let Leah visit. I do not like Leah. Thought Erin was great!

Never thought Kevin James was funny. Certainly do not like the style of comedy. Very childish.

I liked the first year but after only watching a few episodes it wasn’t a show I just had to watch every week I absolutely love King of Queens and I still watch and enjoy the reruns. But the chemistry between Kevin and Leah just wasn’t there!in Kevin, at least in my opinion. I liked the first year a lot better. It seems they were trying to hard and trying to force the chemistry between the 2 of them. With King oh Queens the chemistry really flowed between the 2 of them in every season!!!!! I’d bet the show will… Read more »
