The Last Ship: Season Four Renewal for TNT TV Show

by Trevor Kimball, July 31, 2016

The Last Ship TV show on TNT: season 4To no surprise, TNT has renewed their action drama, The Last Ship, for a fourth season. There will be 13 episodes once again. Season three is currently airing on Sunday nights.

Here’s the press release:

TNT’s The Last Ship Gets S4 Renewal

TNT has ordered 13 episodes for a fourth season of The Last Ship to air next summer. Eric Dane, Adam Baldwin and Bridget Regan star in the series’ third season, along with Charles Parnell, Travis Van Winkle, Marissa Neitling, Christina Elmore, Jocko Sims, Bren Foster and Kevin Michael Martin.

Based on William Brinkley’s popular novel, The Last Ship chronicles a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James avoided falling victim to the devastating tragedy. But now, CO Captain Tom Chandler (Dane) and his crew must confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors.

In its third season, The Last Ship is reaching an average of 7.6 million viewers per episode across all platforms. New episodes premiere Sundays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) on TNT. Fans can catch up on episodes from the first half of season three through TNT On Demand and the TNT website and mobile app. Past seasons are currently available on Blu-Ray and DVD, as well as on Hulu.

The third season of The Last Ship is a production of Turner’s Studio T in association with Platinum Dunes, whose partners – blockbuster filmmaker Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form – serve as executive producers. Co-creators and showrunners Hank Steinberg and Steven Kane also serve as executive producers, along with directors Paul Holahan and Michael Katleman.

What do you think? Do you like The Last Ship TV show on TNT? How long do you think this series should run?

This is by far the most intense show on TV right now. It has everything and all the makings of a fall line up action drama. I would put it against any other show on TV…I have to say only one other exceeded it and the respective network cancelled it…smh! Don’t make that mistake – this show is a winner! Great writing…great story line!!!

I love The Last Ship! The only thing I don’t like is, a lot of the main characters die off the show too quick; like Dr. Scott. But keep the show going! Thank you!

I was hoping for a slight curve ball to be thrown in rather than continuing to use an old style commercial helicopter on board. Why not a Harrier jet with vertical landing and takeoff capability coming in on an episode flown by a disconnected pilot stationed in another country? Or better yet, a missile cruiser brought in to replace the Nathan James destroyer?

For as bad as the ratings have been for season 3, I’m surprised TNT committed to a 4th season of this show. Then again, much what TNT does these days makes no sense anyways. I guess they can’t give up this show yet because they like running five or six commercial breaks per episode. By the way TNT, stop running so many commercials like this. You’re getting to be as bad as the CW network.

They need to stop changing the major rules on the actors! Please stop is bad enough the replacements are terrible and unbelievable in totally a waste of time to watch. Please stay to the core what made the show good, instead of putting crappy actors and places of actors that were wonderful to watch.
