TV show description:
This dramatic series revolves around Elizabeth McCord (Tèa Leoni), a newly appointed Secretary of State. She’s a shrewd and determined woman who drives international diplomacy, battles office politics and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues — both at the White House and at home.
A college professor and a brilliant former CIA analyst who left the agency for ethical reasons, Elizabeth returns to public life at the request of the President — following the suspicious death of her predecessor.
President Conrad Dalton (Keith Carradine) values her apolitical leanings, her deep knowledge of the Middle East, and her flair for languages. He also appreciates her ability to not just think outside the box, but to not even acknowledge there is a box.
McCord debates third world problems, finesses foreign dignitaries at work and does battle with the President’s combative Chief of Staff Russell Jackson (Željko Ivanek).
Elizabeth’s team includes her Chief of Staff Nadine Tolliver (Bebe Neuwirth), speechwriter Matt Mahoney (Geoffrey Arend), press coordinator Daisy Grant (Patina Miller), and her charming assistant Blake Moran (Erich Bergen).
In her personal life, she has a supportive husband, Henry (Tim Daly), and three children — Stephanie “Stevie” (Wallis Currie-Wood), Alison (Katherine Herzer), and Jason (Evan Roe).
Episode #120 — Leaving the Station
President Elizabeth McCord kicks off a new landmark political initiative with help from members of the World Cup Champion U.S. Women’s Soccer team, while Flo Avery (Cicely Tyson), who was born the day women were granted the right to vote, looks on. Opposing the initiative is Senator Amy Ross (Tyne Daley) from Ohio. Also, the McCords overcome last-minute obstacles to pull off a spectacular family celebration with a reunion of familiar faces, that includes a performance by Peter Frampton.
First aired: December 8, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think it should have ended or been renewed for a seventh season?
Love the show don’t cancel
What is all the hoopla about??? The show was renewed last month.
I can’t believe it: you’ve got a great show, it’s a winner, and you aren’t thoroughly committed to it? What is wrong with CBS?
Are we making the difference? I just heard from few people, are they going to do it to us? Maybe there is the other venue we could watch it and THEY could continue. I’m committed. Make the proposal. So much sh….t on TV it was something worth watching!
I loved this series. Please renew
please bring the show back, one of the best shows on T.V
I’m very picky about what I watch on TV, mostly because I don’t want to waste my time on a series unless I feel it really lives up to it’s hype. Madame Secretary does with intelligent plot lines interspersed with issues that are prevalent now. Tea Leoni shines in this role, absolutely believable playing the Secretary of State trying to keep her integrity while being in the bubble of a world that doesn’t always play by the rules. It would be a tragedy to cancel such a great show. I wouldn’t be surprised if they gave it some more time,… Read more »
Madame Secretary is one of the most outstanding TV shows on CBS or any other network.
It is absolutely my favorite show on TV. I can’t believe that the fate of this TV show is up in the air.
CBS Programming is dropping the ball here because this is an all around great show.
CBS, PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!
Wonderful show please don’t cancel it
Very good show. Would hate to see it cancelled.
This is the best show on TV. What happened to it? This show had it all!! It was interesting, funny at times, realistic with all that was going on it the family and intelligent to boot. I thought that finally the TV people came up with something worth watching because it had so many dimensions. I have recommended it to several of my friends who have also grown tired with the drivel that we have been given over the last two years. And finally a show that had some punch to it and it is gone. Please, please bring it… Read more »
One of the best shows on TV, its shame that sport takes over this intelligent and exiting series.
Amen! Thank you Renata as I agree with you that the idiotic TV Network Top Brass just love to replace far far too many great TV Programs like Madam Secretary for far too much idiotic stupid childish sports junk! Or,they simply cancel the show!
So, maybe all of us folks that could care less about TV’s endless obsession with never ending sports sport sports and more sports 24/7 simply need to start a boycott of all the sponsors and advertisers of all these endless sports shows as a boycott of the advertisters products and/or services might send them a long overdue message that not everyone is a sports fanatic!
Thorougly enjoy Madam Secretary. A wonderful Sunday evening show. Hope it continues, disappointed not to see it recently.
A refreshing view after so much TV trash.
Please bring this show back right now.
Madam Secretary is a well written and intelligent show. It is definitely the best ne around. I hope it goes for many seasons!
The Series is excellent. I believe that the problem lies within the CBS Programming Department. Unless a TV Series has a dedicated and continuing schedule, week-to-week, it will not flourish. Madam Secretary flounders because of Sunday sports and weekly ommissions of the show. I fault CBS Programming Dept., entirely. Comcast is totally innocent.
An intelligent, entertaining, well written, well acted, show who’s characters are complex and layered. The story lines make you think. Tia is great as well as her acting team. Keep the chows coming.
Hey JS what’s a “chows coming?????? Did you mean
shows here or watch since I can’t seem to find the “Chows” show on TV?
