TV show description:
This dramatic series revolves around Elizabeth McCord (Tèa Leoni), a newly appointed Secretary of State. She’s a shrewd and determined woman who drives international diplomacy, battles office politics and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues — both at the White House and at home.
A college professor and a brilliant former CIA analyst who left the agency for ethical reasons, Elizabeth returns to public life at the request of the President — following the suspicious death of her predecessor.
President Conrad Dalton (Keith Carradine) values her apolitical leanings, her deep knowledge of the Middle East, and her flair for languages. He also appreciates her ability to not just think outside the box, but to not even acknowledge there is a box.
McCord debates third world problems, finesses foreign dignitaries at work and does battle with the President’s combative Chief of Staff Russell Jackson (Željko Ivanek).
Elizabeth’s team includes her Chief of Staff Nadine Tolliver (Bebe Neuwirth), speechwriter Matt Mahoney (Geoffrey Arend), press coordinator Daisy Grant (Patina Miller), and her charming assistant Blake Moran (Erich Bergen).
In her personal life, she has a supportive husband, Henry (Tim Daly), and three children — Stephanie “Stevie” (Wallis Currie-Wood), Alison (Katherine Herzer), and Jason (Evan Roe).
Episode #120 — Leaving the Station
President Elizabeth McCord kicks off a new landmark political initiative with help from members of the World Cup Champion U.S. Women’s Soccer team, while Flo Avery (Cicely Tyson), who was born the day women were granted the right to vote, looks on. Opposing the initiative is Senator Amy Ross (Tyne Daley) from Ohio. Also, the McCords overcome last-minute obstacles to pull off a spectacular family celebration with a reunion of familiar faces, that includes a performance by Peter Frampton.
First aired: December 8, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think it should have ended or been renewed for a seventh season?
Madam Secretary is a wonderful show ; one of the best of the new season. It’s well written, well acted, very interesting. thoroughly entertaining. PLEASE do NOT cancel this show and please bring back all the episodes we haven’t seen. THANK YOU,
I agree with all the other positive comments. This show has not been given a chance. It has a wonderful and talented cast and if this show was not pre-meted every time there was a sports event it would have been right up there in the top line up oh intelligent, great shows.
Give it another year and do not pre-empt the show every time there is a football or sports show. Thank you very much!
rest of the season on the same night for the rest of the season. Good writing and actingThis a great TV show! Between all the football games and holiday specials the show wasn’t given a chance. Let it play on for the rest of the season and I’d urge youth give it another season. It is well written, well acted and very current. There is enough sub par shows on TV.
My husband and I watch it faithfully and anticipate it coming back on Sunday evenings. The story line makes you even more aware of how much America really faces that we don’t even know about. Keep the show coming on
We miss this intelligent, witty show and its excellent actors. Please bring it back soon.
Madam Secretary in my opinion is one of the best on TV today. What I like most is that it deals with current events and seems to be very realistic. There isn’t s cast member that isn’t so true to life feeling it makes you feel you are actually there. The actors, writers, creators, directors, producers, everyone involved are guinesses. My only disappointment is you never know if it’s on that week or if it is what time it starts. I hope someone gets their act together on this, I would really like this show to continue , one of… Read more »
This is a great show. I have the same complaint about the show starting late. I have it set up to record and it alway ends up delayed. I have all the stations on demand except CBS. I have to go on line and watch it on my computer. This shows how much I like the show. If it was just ok, I would not go through so much trouble to watch it. I have no idea why CBS is not on demand.
Awesome show and one that keeps your attention.
I love this show. If it isn’t doing well it’s because of the awful Sunday night delays. One never knows what time it will start. Also, the delays between airings are erratic. It would be so good to know that if it’s Sunday I can watch Madam Secretary and The Good Wife but it doesn’t work that way anymore. I think this kind of programing hurts lots of excellent shows.
I totally agree!!
It is one of my favorites and it should definatly be renewed, love the honest of the Ms. Leone and the power play in the Washington
Shud B renewed
I miss this show. It has been so long since it was on that I was checking to see if it been cancelled. The acting is very good and the topics are current. Who doesn’t love Tea Leone, Tim Daly and Bebe Neuwirth?
Love Madame Secretary. Best show on TV in a long time. Not full of violence She handles international conflicts brilliantly. Our political leaders could learn something from her. Please keep the series going. Thanks CBS for something worthy to watch.
I agree. Madame Secretary is intelligent, interesting and entertaining. I am disappointed that I never know when it will be aired. Sports seems to push it later on Sundays. Keep the series coming – I love it. When will it be on again??
This a show that shokuld be renewed. NOT cancelled!! The writing is exceptional and I keep looking for a new season.
Best show!! Love Tea Leone and Tim Daly. The rest of the cast is great also!!
