TV show description:
This dramatic series revolves around Elizabeth McCord (Tèa Leoni), a newly appointed Secretary of State. She’s a shrewd and determined woman who drives international diplomacy, battles office politics and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues — both at the White House and at home.
A college professor and a brilliant former CIA analyst who left the agency for ethical reasons, Elizabeth returns to public life at the request of the President — following the suspicious death of her predecessor.
President Conrad Dalton (Keith Carradine) values her apolitical leanings, her deep knowledge of the Middle East, and her flair for languages. He also appreciates her ability to not just think outside the box, but to not even acknowledge there is a box.
McCord debates third world problems, finesses foreign dignitaries at work and does battle with the President’s combative Chief of Staff Russell Jackson (Željko Ivanek).
Elizabeth’s team includes her Chief of Staff Nadine Tolliver (Bebe Neuwirth), speechwriter Matt Mahoney (Geoffrey Arend), press coordinator Daisy Grant (Patina Miller), and her charming assistant Blake Moran (Erich Bergen).
In her personal life, she has a supportive husband, Henry (Tim Daly), and three children — Stephanie “Stevie” (Wallis Currie-Wood), Alison (Katherine Herzer), and Jason (Evan Roe).
Episode #120 — Leaving the Station
President Elizabeth McCord kicks off a new landmark political initiative with help from members of the World Cup Champion U.S. Women’s Soccer team, while Flo Avery (Cicely Tyson), who was born the day women were granted the right to vote, looks on. Opposing the initiative is Senator Amy Ross (Tyne Daley) from Ohio. Also, the McCords overcome last-minute obstacles to pull off a spectacular family celebration with a reunion of familiar faces, that includes a performance by Peter Frampton.
First aired: December 8, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think it should have ended or been renewed for a seventh season?
Excellent show … Great acting … Interesting content!!!
I love this show, it is brilliant. Tea Leone is a great role model and so believable as a powerful member of the president’s cabinet, wife and mother. Do NOT cancel this show
Renew please! Smartly written, great cast! One of the best new shoes this fall!
Renew. It deserves a better place in the line-up
By the by: she has three (3) children.
Paul
I’ve added the third. She wasn’t in the network’s original description.
Great series. Do NOT cancel
Renew!!! Renew!!! 1st political drama show I’ve ever really enjoyed… & it’s become one of my favorites!
Renew! And let us know what happened – is it coming back? Like it better than State if Affairs.
Renew! Renew! Renew!!!!!! This is one of the best series I’ve watched in years. I can’t believe the question would even come up “to renew or cut” Keep Tae going, she is great and so are all of the other characters, the depth of the story line is a challenge, the acting is superb and the issues featured are real life issues. I use to live in D.C. and the houses are all exactly like Madam Secretaries house. This series reminds me of “West Wing” I like the actors in Madam Secretary more. Direct competition to “Homeland” in fact, Homeland… Read more »
Best new series . The pace of the program and twists of resolutions to world problems, along with the relentless suspicious obstinate behavior of the President’s chief of staff make each episode intriguing as a good book. Please continue this series as it is “the” hit in my book.
Do not cancel!!! It’s the first new TV series in years that is worth watching.
I really like Madam Secretary. I was so disappointed when the Mentalist came on in her spot. Do not cancel the show. It is one of the few shows I look forward to watching.
Please renew. I like the show. Maybe if we didn’t have to wait for football to end before the start of 60 minutes, Madam Secretary wouldn’t be on so late and more people would watch it.
I love the show but what happened last night. Madan Secretary was not on and there is nothing up coming for the next two weeks . There was no announcement that the 11/30/14 episode was the winter finale. What happened?
returns 1/4/15
Thank goodness… All the good shows get canceled and all the terrible comedy crap stays on for years !! Finally a show with a little substance.
Renew , definitely . It’s great
Why was the next episode of this show now shown tonight, December 7th? This show is worth watching, the acting, the writing, the directing, solid good programming. Please get it on at the same time every Sunday and just let me and the other viewing public ( which I think by the CBS ratings is very significant) count on being able to watch it. Unlike much of what is on tv, this is worth watching.
