FOX made quite a splash this year with The Masked Singer, and its Gordon Ramsay franchise continues to bring the heat, but the network still struggles with some unscripted offerings and recently cancelled its Love Connection TV series revival. Now they’re playing the game a new way with the Mental Samurai TV show. Is this the right warrior to champion this network in the Nielsen ratings? Will Mental Samurai be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A FOX game show billed as an obstacle course for the mind, Mental Samurai is hosted by Rob Lowe, who also serves as a producer. Not only do the competitors have to quickly and correctly answer questions which draw on their overall knowledge, memory, and ability with puzzles, numbers and sequences, they play the game while inside a capsule which zooms around the set, and can rotate 360 degrees. In addition to testing their focus and skills, it is also meant to try their stamina.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/22 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like Mental Samurai TV show? Should this FOX TV series be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
