As expected, the Mom TV show has been renewed for a fifth season on CBS. The Thursday night sitcom will return as part of the 2017-18 broadcast season.
On the Mom TV show, Christy (Anna Faris) is a single mom in recovery who’s returned to live with her single mother, Bonnie (Allison Janney), who’s also in recovery. Christy is tested daily as Bonnie tries to make up for all the ways she’s let her daughter down. Christy is further challenged by her relationships with her own kids, Violet (Sadie Calvano) and Roscoe (Blake Garrett Rosenthal), and Roscoe’s dad, a former slacker named Baxter (Matt Jones). To help her stay sober, Christy relies on her support system from AA which includes her sponsor Marjorie (Mimi Kennedy), wealthy sponsee Jill (Jaime Pressly), and her emotional friend, Wendy (Beth Hall). Christy tries to remain positive but it always seems like an uphill battle.
The fourth season is currently averaging a 1.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.55 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 14% in the demo and down by 5% in viewership. Compared to other series, that’s a reasonable season-to-season decline.
Mom is CBS’ sixth-highest rated scripted series and will be back for 2017-18.

I had no idea the show even existed until I just happened to tune in one night while channel surfing. The writing is quite good and it’s genuinely funny. It stands above many other comedy series, most of which I don’t watch. I think the lead (Kristy) carries the show with (Bonnie) coming in a close second, so the two of them are the main impetus and make the show what it is. Love this show but confused about it being on at 10p.m. and 1a.m. Is the 1a.m reruns and the 10a.m season 5?
I never knew this show existed until I started watching it on TV Land. I now watch it every night. Love the show. Glad it’s going to be around another season!

I absolutely love “Mom”! I can”t wait for season 5. I watch reruns of Seasons 1-4 daily, can’t get enough of it… it is so funny!!! I love all the characters. Thank you for bringing it back for another season!

I am very happy that “Mom” was renewed for a 5th season! I just love this show! It is so funny and makes me wish it was longer than a 1/2 hour show (well, whatever it is without commercials anyway). I’m hooked. However, I do miss “2 Broke Girls.”
Love this show, only starting watching in 2016 but have seen the reruns. So glad your renewing it, there is too much hard core, sad and violent and horrible reality shows on TV and not enough GOOD comedy which this one qualifies for. CBS has done something right here !

Omgoodness! I am so happy this show is returning. I love it! Have watched it over and over on HULU for the past 8 weeks. I can’t wait till the season 5 show! Don’t listen to negative feedback. This is a real-life show! It is so very true how AA helps and also how AA is not for everyone. Chrissy is doing GREAT as a mom and daughter. She shows how we as recovering alcoholics deal with every day issues. Love this show!
