Streaming on the Amazon Prime Video paid subscription platform, Patriot stars Michael Dorman, Michael Chernus, Terry O’Quinn, Kathleen Munroe, Kurtwood Smith, Aliette Opheim, Chris Conrad, Julian Richings, Gil Bellows, and Marcus Toji.
This political thriller follows intelligence officer John Tavner (Dorman). With only his unsafe “non-official cover” as a mid-level employee at an industrial piping firm, Tavner is on assignment to stop Iran from going nuclear. Lingering PTSD, governmental ineptitude, and meeting the requirements of his cover, cause spiraling blunders which threaten his mission. His penchant for smoking pot and writing all too confessional folks songs don’t help matters. And then there’s the trail of dead and maimed bodies he leaves in his wake.
The pilot episode of Patriot was first released in November 2015 with the rest of the first season being unveiled in February 2017. The show was renewed for a second season in April 2017 and those 8 episodes were released in November 2018. With the cancellation, the spy series is capped with a total of 18 episodes.

Best show on any of the streaming services, really disappointed that it wasn’t renewed, is there any way to get someone else to pick it up? Brooklyn 99 was canceled until another network grabbed it
It’s so sad when a tv show is too intelligent for the masses to appreciate, gets cancelled, then replaced with vapid, shot-before-an-audience BS! One of the best I’ve ever seen. Comedy without trying to be funny, sad without being preachy, tense and adventurous in ways that will change your view of what that means. I might just cancel my subscription if this is what they consider a good decision.
Shame on anyone involved in ending an extremely intelligent, touching, yet humorous series such as this. I guess the Bezos minions aren’t that savvy!

Patriot is one of the most well written TV series I have ever seen! So much so, that I have never gone on a website and felt the need to discuss a show I have watched until now! The story was an absolute masterpiece from beginning to end. I truly could not think of a better actor than Michael Dorman to play the part. Oh my gosh, I just found Patriot I can’t believe you would cancel such a well-written and Incredibly acted series. You got to be absolutely crazy to do that. This is one of the best series I’ve ever watched. Probably too late to change your mind now. That was a stupid decision.

Thank you! As a silent suffer of this affliction, much like John, it was refreshing to see the situation portrayed with such accuracy. The final scene was heart breaking. When Spike told him what he did, John’s reaction without even saying a word portrayed so much pain and a longing for once to be absolved. An Emmy worthy performance in almost every single episode.
Writing was brilliant, casting was perfect. So much yet to explore. Big mistake to cancel.

I found this show to be really original, with elements of dark comedy, confessional compositions, and stunning shots of Europe. Definitely Wish there was a 3rd season. John Tavner was cast so well! So cooool.
One of the best shows. Smart. So much Depth. Clever. Not renewing for another season is television travesty.
Patriot is probably the most engaging..tongue in cheek…darkest …entertaining…brilliantly shot show that I have ever seen and I feel it as a personal loss that it was not renewed
my household really enjoyed this series and we are disappointed that it was not renewed. the acting was great and the story lines, as crazy as this sounds, were rather believable. hopefully we will see the talented cast members in other productions. So long, Patriot!
This show was one of the most entertaining shows any streaming service has produced. Can’t believe it was not renewed-shot down in its prime! How could they not realize how popular it was/is? How does Amazon decide what shows to continue? Apparently not by polling its subscribers. We should have a say in it.
i imagine they have a statistical threshold that has to be met that is easily measured by their servers. then there is the financial considerations. The Patriot shot in beautiful locations and maybe set the bar a little too high to be financially viable? Financially, it may have also been related to contract negotiations ala “Deadwood” that made The Patriot undesirable for renewal. But I am TOTALLY with you; very entertaining and always kept me wanting more. It’s a shame. Lets agree to keep our fingers crossed that another service/network might grab this fumbled
