This may be the one problem that Ray Donovan can’t fix. Showtime has decided to cancel the Ray Donovan TV show, opting not to renew it for an eighth and final season.
Ray Donovan stars Liev Schreiber, Alan Alda, Zach Grenier, Jon Voight, Dash Mihok, Eddie Marsan, Pooch Hall, Kerris Dorsey, and Graham Rogers. The series centers on professional fixer Ray Donovan (Schreiber), who’s working to be the man his family needs him to be. While he makes progress with Dr. Amiot (Alda), there are dangers from the past that require the Ray Donovan of old. Between NYC mayor Ed Feratti (Grenier), an unrelenting NYPD officer hunting for the truth and clients old and new, Ray struggles to find the balance between fixing for clients and fixing himself. And when Feratti’s corruption brings a piece of Mickey’s past (Voight) back to New York, Ray is forced to seek answers to long-buried questions.
The seventh season of Ray Donovan averaged a 0.13 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 932,000 viewers. Compared to season six, that’s down by 21% in the demo and down by 3% in viewership.
During this year’s winter TCA press conference, Showtime boss Gary Levine suggested Ray Donovan could be coming to an end. He said, “I think Ray Donovan is nearing the end of its run. We always talked about seven or eight seasons. Nothing has been decided yet but it’s fair to say it is nearing the end.” Schreiber suggested that fans of Ray Donovan urge Showtime to renew the show for season eight.
“After seven incredible seasons, Ray Donovan has concluded its run on Showtime,” the cable channel said in a statement. “We are proud that the series ended amid such strong viewership and on such a powerful note. Our deepest thanks go to Liev Schreiber, Jon Voight, showrunner David Hollander and the entire cast and crew, past and present, for their dedicated work.”
The seventh season finale, which aired on January 19th, left viewers with a cliffhanger for a series finale.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Ray Donovan TV show? Do you think that Showtime should have ordered an eighth season or, at least some sort of wrap up for the series?
My favorite series !!! You need to renew!!! Please please please I absolutely love everything about the show and the cast is wonderful!!!! Love that Ray ❤️
Absolutely! My favorite series of all time! If this isn’t the greatest hyperbole, I don’t know what is!
Yes, they should go for Season 8
They should at least been curtious enought to give both the cast and the long supportive fans a proper ending and not leave it hanging. I say give Ray and the rest of the clan a clean break. End it all with some respect and dignity.
Would you walk your bride to the altar and not say I DO??? How do we ever figure out if there is an answer to this if we don’t get season 8!!!
One of my favorite shows. I’m so upset its not renewing. I was looking forward to the new season. I’m so tired of good shows getting canceled and replaced by stupid ones.
I am so bummed! One of my favorites!
Best show ever ! In my opinion, it actually beats “The Wire”.
At the very least, Mickey should have finally been killed off.
Horrible way to end an otherwise fabulous series…. the bad guy won.
I can now cancel my Showtime subscription as this was all I watched on it.
Very unfair.
Thanks for the cliffhanger…you could have at the very least given all of us loyal fans an actual ending. I guess it really is true money is the root of all evil…as soon as your ratings went down and you list a fraction of what we here in the real world make in money you dropped our favorite series like a bad habit. You should be ashamed.
Please bring it back for season 8 to give the show and ending and not leave everybody hanging. It’s a great show and I will miss it, but I would like to see it have a conclusion.
I eill cancel my showtime subscription ig it leaves Ray hanging. Other than that and the current season of Homeland, I have nothing to look forward to
I love this show, sad to see it go but the storyline was getting weird, it’s time to end. They made Ray look so sloppy and didn’t like the fact that Ray drank so much and looked unclean most of the time, . When did he shower ? After the wife died the show ended anyway.
Will want to cancel ShowTime because of this!!!!
Me too!
I need a season 8
I think it was time! I mean where was the series going to go after the wife died??!! I for one was done with the show once they killed the wife off. She was the glue that held him and the family together. They had a dysfunctional relationship but she was his rock and I loved seeing how much he loved her and did everything for her and the kids to have a better life than he did. The show just ran off the tracks once the wife died. It’s sad bc I absolutely LOVED this show too!!
That’s the same way I felt. I loved Abby! after that I stopped watching,
