TNT has not yet announced a premiere date for The Angel of Darkness, but you can read more info below:
LOS ANGELES, AUGUST 16, 2018 – TNT has ordered The Angel of Darkness, a new limited series based on the sequel to best-selling author Caleb Carr’s The Alienist. A huge critical and ratings success, The Alienist is 2018’s #1 new cable series in 18-49, having reached more than 50 million people across multiple platforms. It also earned six Emmy® Award nominations, including Outstanding Limited Series. The Alienist’s lead cast including Daniel Brühl (Rush), Luke Evans (The Girl on the Train) and Dakota Fanning (American Pastoral) will return for The Angel of Darkness in an all-new storyline.
An unflinching, gripping, turn-of-the-century murder mystery amidst the underbelly of New York City’s “Gilded Age,” The Alienist followed Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Brühl), a brilliant and obsessive “alienist” in the controversial new field of treating mental pathologies. In the first series, Kreizler was relentless in his pursuit of a never-before-seen ritualistic killer murdering young boys. He was joined by newspaper illustrator John Moore (Evans) and Sara Howard (Fanning), an ambitious secretary determined to become the city’s first female police detective.
“We could not be prouder of The Alienist’s outstanding, award-worthy performance and all of the work the incredible actors and crew put in to bring that story and time period to life,” said Sarah Aubrey, executive vice president of original programming for TNT. “Our audience fell in love with these multi-dimensional, timeless characters and the journey of their struggles living in complicated times. With this new story in TNT’s Suspense Collection, we will further immerse viewers into their world as they are confronted with a new enemy.”
The Angel of Darkness is a co-production of Paramount Television and Turner’s Studio T with Eric Roth, Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin and Rosalie Swedlin and Cary Joji Fukunaga serving as executive producers.
What do you think? Have you seen The Alienist? Will you watch The Angel of Darkness?
This should be awesome. Still waiting for networks to do a better job setting premiere dates. With so many channels, it’s not easy finding out when a new season begins.
Loved the alienist and waiting for next season the angle of darkness
TNT was very intelligent to continue this series. It was very gripping and I can’t wait to see the new one! How unintelligent, after the show won so many awards and had so many viewers, they even considered canceling this program to begin with. The number spoke for themselves and everyone that love the show should not had to of come on this site to post. Bravo on you bringing the show back, no pun intended For those that caught it. Looking forward to watching it another awesome murder mystery series.
Loved the Alienist! Will definitely watch sequel. Good acting and story plot. About time we have tv that’s worth watching.
In the past decade only two shows have grabbed, and held, my attention for every episode and the entire season. The Alienst was so well done that I was eager for the next episode, waiting impatiently until it aired. From the script to the acting/actors, from the costuming to the cinematography, there was never a point where my interest lagged. If the network were to produce a sequel, with the same quality of scripting, historically correct costumes, and the high quality of acting/actors etc, I would be most interested to see it. I am waiting with baited breath to hear… Read more »
I watched in eager anticipation each succeeding episode. I often watched again on my phone app. I thought the three main characters Kreizler, Monroe and Howard(performance names) gave flawless performances. The sets and costuming let you back to the 19th century.
Should win big at Emmy time.
The Alienist was watch-worthy, compelling. The actor’s top calibre performances coupled with the very accurate costumes and sets drew me in and held my attention. I hope there will be a 2nd season, or sequel.
I consider The Alienist by Caleb Carr one of the best book reads in my lifetime, especially since it is based on actual history. I was estatic when I learned of the TV series and it did not disappoint. The job of recreating the atmosphere of NYC during the latter 1800s for this series was phenomenal. As was the acting. The only other film created that stayed so true to the book in my opinion was To Kill A Mockingbird which I first watched on black & white TV at around age 12. At that time the movie motivated me… Read more »

Hooked on this show….But the explicit graphics have to go…
Great show, great actors and to build an entire turn of the twentieth century NYC world with huge outdoor sets and detailed indoor sets and costumes in Hungary is simply amazing!
