The Flash, Jane the Virgin: Renewed for Second Seasons Already?

by Trevor Kimball, December 23, 2014

The Flash on The CW: season 2 renewal already? There have been rumors that The CW renewed The Flash and Jane the Virgin for second seasons today. Unfortunately for fans of these series, it’s not true — at least not yet anyway.

The rumor apparently stems from an article from the CW station in Tampa that said both had already been renewed. The article has now been updated to say “Editors note: An earlier post incorrectly stated that The Flash and Jane The Virgin had been picked up for season 2, when the ratings and critical acclaim earned both shows full orders for their first season.” It’s not uncommon for people to confuse a full season order with a renewal, in part because some sites report them as a renewals.

While neither have been renewed yet, The Flash will surely be back for a second season. The ratings have come down quite a bit since its premiere but the show still has the best demo and viewer numbers on the network — by far.

Jane the Virgin’s fate could go either way. It’s well-respected but it’s got the lowest viewership and some of the weakest demo numbers on The CW. We likely won’t know its fate until the spring.

What do you think? Do you like either or both of these series? Would you like to see them return for second seasons?

Love both, for different reasons, but the network’s appeal has never been so dead on for me. Hope they both get a second season.

I’m a die-hard fan of the DC Comics & to see everyone’s favourite Scarlet Speedster to break the sound barrier on a weekly basis is a moment to cherish. Moreover we also have seen the CW’s version of The Dawn of Justice, i.e. where the tall & brooding meets the one next to God, I mean how awesome was it? Finally I can’t wait to see the writer’s take on the very unique ability of the Flash: “Time-Travel”. Now this is what opens up the game & gives us an infinite possibilities of ‘what ifs?’. Thereby judging the above I… Read more »

Yup! Spot on Mate! I’m also looking forward to the Time-Travel part, & I do wish that a Crossover of some sort occurs as an aftermath to the Flashpoint Paradox which unites the Sliver-screen Superheroes with their CW’s counterparts. Even if standing at this point it seems quite improbable as the dim-wits at WB chose to keep both the Universe separate, alas!

In the case of The Flash, I most certainly hope season 2 happens. I only watch the CW for that show, and I love it. I wanna start watching Arrow too, so keep that too.

Sorry, I don’t care about those. That being said, due to their popularity I doubt they’ll be cancelled.

I started out watching The Flash and loved it. Made me think about watching Arrow cause I never really gave it a chance. Once I saw the pilot for Arrow, I got hooked. It’s from the same creators as The Flash. You will love it.
