TV show description:
In its first season, this program was titled The Great Holiday Baking Show. Based on the UK TV series called The Great British Bake Off, this cooking competition is hosted by producer/actress Nia Vardalos and her husband, actor Ian Gomez.
The program features a group of the nation’s best amateur bakers as they compete in a series of themed challenges and eliminations. Their goal is to be crowned Holiday Baking Champion.
Johnny Iuzzini joins England’s “Royal Queen of Baking” Mary Berry, as they judge the decadent holiday creations that these bakers create as they throw down their best culinary skills.
Each episode has its own theme — cookies, cakes, pastries, etc. Each installment also features three challenges: the Signature Bake (the chefs showcase their own recipes); the Technical Bake (a surprise recipe that is sometimes incomplete, during which the bakers must demonstrate precision and technique); and the Showstopper Bake (which forces the chefs to bake and decorate while focusing on flavors).

What do you think? Do you like The Great American Baking Show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for another season?
I loved this show as well as the Great British Baking Show. Why didn’t they just get a different judge?
I look forward to watching the third season of the Great American Baking Show (aka The Great Holiday Baking Show). I like the American format and the judges, Mary Berry and Johnny Iuzzini give constructive evaluations. Those judges at Food Network get on my nerves with their self-important critiques and wonder at their decisions. I like Nia Vardalos and Ian Gomez because they are not so irritating like their British counterparts. I just wish they had a few more participants and more episodes.
Please renew! Loved this program!
I enjoyed the show and can’t believe they wouldn’t show the finale.
Definitely renew!!! I love the gentle participation and the fact that these are normal people, not celebrities. Maybe new hosts, but the format is delightful.
A second-rate imitation of the British Bake-Off Show. The hosts are so lame that not even Mary Berry can save it. This show is characterized with forced laughter, obviously edited inserts, and terrible attempts to drum up competition among the bakers. The contestants may very well be skilled but you will rarely see it in this 4 week production. Any discussion of technique is all but missing and instead the editing relies on forced stereotyping of the character of the contestants. Bad bakes are given a pass while very good bakes are harshly criticized. Watch the editing in the first… Read more »
I missed the finale on December 21 because it was pre-empted by football! Will the finale be shown again?
really enjoyed this show. hope it’s continued. great to see something different on tv. Betty off the wall question== what type of tree was used for Christmas tree in tent?
You love this show. I have yo record it to see it because of poor time slot but want to see it again. Live Mary Berry.
Yes…please renew because I want to be a contestant and be the first baker to bake all these recipes gluten-free!,,,, please, please, please pick me!,,.
Now, ABC brought Celebrity Family Feud back for a second season this year, What are the chances for ABC bringing The American Baking Competition back for a second season after The Great Holiday Baking Show? They should definitely renew The Great Holiday Baking Show for a second season. ABC should revive The American Baking Competition as a spring/summer season and run The Great Holiday Baking Show as a winter season. Agree?
