Rittenhouse has won this round, so who’s going to save Rufus? NBC has cancelled its Timeless TV show after two seasons and a hard-fought campaign by fans and the writers alike. The second season ended on a heart-stopping cliffhanger, which is frustrating for fans, but reportedly, there are talks of a two-hour movie to wrap things up. Will it happen? Stay tuned.
An NBC time-travel drama from Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan, Timeless stars Matt Lanter, Abigail Spencer, Goran Višnjić, Malcolm Barrett, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey, and Claudia Doumit. As the Time Team, their mission is to prevent the destruction of our world as we know it. Susanna Thompson, Annie Wersching, and Michael Rady recur in season two as members of the nemesis organization, Rittenhouse.
Timeless: A Look at the Ratings
The second season of Timeless averaged a 0.61 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.52 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 44% and 45%, respectively. Find out how Timeless stacks up against other NBC TV shows.
Time’s up for Timeless: NBC has officially passed on making a third season of the show, EW has learned.
The cult-favorite time-travel drama has been axed by the network after a lengthy decision-making process in which the network and studio Sony Pictures Television tried to find a financially agreeable path to renew the show for weeks.
Thursday’s news will surely be disappointing for fans because the season 2 finale ended on a major cliffhanger. All may not be lost, however: Sources say there are discussions about wrapping things up in a two-hour movie, but those talks have been going on for awhile and it’s unclear if anything will come of them.
What do you think? Will you watch a movie to wrap up the storyline? Should NBC have cancelled or renewed Timeless for season three? Sound off in the comments.
I’m SO bummed ! Timeless is one of my favorite shows!! NBC sucks. I can’t even deal. I will watch the movie if they make, but I wish they would reconsider and bring it back. This totally ruined my weekend.
It is a shame the idiots at nbc have cancelled their most worthy endeavor, a unique program that managed to teach interesting bits of history in an interesting way. More critical thinking is sorely needed, not just the 18-49 dolts matter. A rising tide lifts all boats.
Yes will watch movie but would rather have the series come back.
So SAD a good show and they cancelled. It. I hope NBC has lots of emails over this cancellation
You should renew it and try a different time slot. We love the show and hate that it’s cancelled.
So sad to hear Timekess was cancelled. Such a classy show. As usual all we have to watch are idiotic reality shows!
I am very sad to hear that NBC has cancelled Timeless. It was such a good show. It was informative and funny and so well done. I loved it.
Of course i’ll watch the movie. But I really wish it had not been cancelled.
Sadly another great show bites the dust. Question to ask yourself is why even watch a series and get invested when bean counters can pull the plug anytime. Yes I would watch a wrap up movie!
Another perfect example of a great show, that was on a bad night, with a bad time slot.
Okay, Netflix time to step up again and save an excellent and intelligent show. It is so smart and has a lot of great wit and dry humor.
I would live to have closure on this story
Yes yes yes finally.
I would absolutely watch a movie for Timeless, even buy the movie. As for NBC I am so very tir of the constantly cancelling my favorite shows so from now on I will NOT watch that station again.
How stupid is NBC to cancel this! First they cancel “The Brave” that had tremendous fan support and now they cancel Timeless. Guess listening to the idiots that determine the “ratings” is more important than listening to fans that know what they want. Such a pity. Let’s all hope they’ll actually be a movie of “Timeless”.
I agree about the canceling of The Brave too!
I’m so sad but I would watch the 2 hr movie because I need to know what happened next, they can’t leave it like that because it’s not fair on the fans
