Rittenhouse has won this round, so who’s going to save Rufus? NBC has cancelled its Timeless TV show after two seasons and a hard-fought campaign by fans and the writers alike. The second season ended on a heart-stopping cliffhanger, which is frustrating for fans, but reportedly, there are talks of a two-hour movie to wrap things up. Will it happen? Stay tuned.
An NBC time-travel drama from Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan, Timeless stars Matt Lanter, Abigail Spencer, Goran Višnjić, Malcolm Barrett, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey, and Claudia Doumit. As the Time Team, their mission is to prevent the destruction of our world as we know it. Susanna Thompson, Annie Wersching, and Michael Rady recur in season two as members of the nemesis organization, Rittenhouse.
Timeless: A Look at the Ratings
The second season of Timeless averaged a 0.61 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.52 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 44% and 45%, respectively. Find out how Timeless stacks up against other NBC TV shows.
Time’s up for Timeless: NBC has officially passed on making a third season of the show, EW has learned.
The cult-favorite time-travel drama has been axed by the network after a lengthy decision-making process in which the network and studio Sony Pictures Television tried to find a financially agreeable path to renew the show for weeks.
Thursday’s news will surely be disappointing for fans because the season 2 finale ended on a major cliffhanger. All may not be lost, however: Sources say there are discussions about wrapping things up in a two-hour movie, but those talks have been going on for awhile and it’s unclear if anything will come of them.
What do you think? Will you watch a movie to wrap up the storyline? Should NBC have cancelled or renewed Timeless for season three? Sound off in the comments.
Of course you eoulf cancel a shoe that eas both entertaining and historical. We wouldn’t want anyone to get smarter watching tv. Too bad NBC.
It shouldn’t have been cancelled, it is one of the better shows produced along with a learning of our history. The characters were easy to fall in love with. It will be very missed.
Well… It was a good show. I understand that NBC wasn’t making money off it. No one really would. Even if it went to their fellow Comcast controlled brethren, SYFY.
You don’t want a show like this going to SyFy. That’s a station notorious for canning shows after and episode and ruining shows.
A two hour movie sounds fun and more possible to give this show a good send off. Just don’t assume that a network that makes millions a day off advertising will keep a show just because a handful of people tell them to.
The major networks just don’t have any love for sci-fi which is a shame. There is a huge market for sci-fi right now but they are too interested in putting out more boring crime drama shows and are afraid if ratings drop a few percentage points. For a show airing in the worst possible time/day slot on tv, Timeless sure built a big fan base. Maybe if the suits actually aired Timeless on a good time slot and promoted it, we wouldn’t be having to write these comments. Hopefully we will at least get the movie finale but it would… Read more »
I would watch season 3, or a 2 hour movie!!! I love this show and need closure!!!
Yes renew it. Failing a renewal at least go forward with the movie plans. Viewers deserve closure.
I can’t bare the thought of Timeless not being on the air anymore. I love watching this type of television. I enjoyed watching the other time traveling show that was on another network. So please let there be a 2 hour movie to wrap things up. Give us another chance to see Lucy and Wyatt and Rufus. I loved seeing Lucy and Wyatt finally get together to only have Rittenhouse bring back Jessica to tear them apart. Please NBC make this movie the fans really need some kind of closure.
Timeless should definitely have been renewed for a 3rd season. I would definitely watch a movie to rap it up though!!
Netflix or Amazon really should pick this up for a 3rd/4th season
Disappointed! I would love to have Netflix to pick it up.
I am very disappointed to learn that Timeless has been cancelled. I would really love for Netflix or another network to pick it up. I am very irritated that the networks cancel shows before they have time to find their true audience.
I hope Netflix picks it up!
It was a huge mistake to cancel the show…NBC was definitely clueless. I would watch the movie to tie it up. It’s just so disappointing to lose such a smart and interesting show.
So NBC should suck it up and continue to loose ad revenue just because you like it?
I like the show but understand how the world works. It’s sad it’s gone, just people didn’t watch it and you can’t sell ad time for a show that hardly anyone watches.
Timeless was a very intriguing show with so many possibilities. NBC was clueless to cancel it. And they put it in a bad time slot too. It would be great if Netflix picked it up or some other smart venue.
This is a great show! Bring on Season 3 or Netflix or SciFi or another will pick it up! Why do the good shows get cancelled!
