Rittenhouse has won this round, so who’s going to save Rufus? NBC has cancelled its Timeless TV show after two seasons and a hard-fought campaign by fans and the writers alike. The second season ended on a heart-stopping cliffhanger, which is frustrating for fans, but reportedly, there are talks of a two-hour movie to wrap things up. Will it happen? Stay tuned.
An NBC time-travel drama from Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan, Timeless stars Matt Lanter, Abigail Spencer, Goran Višnjić, Malcolm Barrett, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey, and Claudia Doumit. As the Time Team, their mission is to prevent the destruction of our world as we know it. Susanna Thompson, Annie Wersching, and Michael Rady recur in season two as members of the nemesis organization, Rittenhouse.
Timeless: A Look at the Ratings
The second season of Timeless averaged a 0.61 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.52 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 44% and 45%, respectively. Find out how Timeless stacks up against other NBC TV shows.
Time’s up for Timeless: NBC has officially passed on making a third season of the show, EW has learned.
The cult-favorite time-travel drama has been axed by the network after a lengthy decision-making process in which the network and studio Sony Pictures Television tried to find a financially agreeable path to renew the show for weeks.
Thursday’s news will surely be disappointing for fans because the season 2 finale ended on a major cliffhanger. All may not be lost, however: Sources say there are discussions about wrapping things up in a two-hour movie, but those talks have been going on for awhile and it’s unclear if anything will come of them.
What do you think? Will you watch a movie to wrap up the storyline? Should NBC have cancelled or renewed Timeless for season three? Sound off in the comments.
I just don’t understand why this show is being cancelled, again!! One of the best shows on TV with a great storyline and characters. Yes I would watch the movie but would prefer several more seasons of Timeless
time for Netflix to take over this great show
Yes we would definitely watch a movie ending. We will miss Timeless for season three.
I would gladly watch a movie but I don’t understand why the networks keep cancelling good decent fun shows. It seems like if it isn’t filthy or ridiculous we’ll never keep seeing it. It makes me want to get rid of my TVs.
Come on Netflix, save this one.
Please respect your viewers. Wrap up the series with a movie. Build it and they will come.
Respect your viewers. Finish the series with a movie wrap-up. You’ll get the viewers for it.
Why do they always cancel interesting shows with a great cast? Enough cop shows, this one shouldn’t be cancelled. It had nice historic elements, fun script, serious story line. Yes, I would love to see a movie, but want the series back!
I would definitely watch a 2 hour movie of Timeless. I hated the series was cancelled! It was great watching a show that had good acting, an imaginative story, and you never knew what to expect. I hate all the reality shows on now, and Timeless was a breath of fresh air! The whole notion of watching TV, in my mind, is to escape reality which Timeless did and reality shows don’t.
Another interesting, well-written, well-acted, series ending because people woulld rather watch mindless sit-com fluff with canned laughs! Disgusting!
Screw you NBC, you canceled the only show I network television worth watching. Disappointing to say the least!
Great show better than most of junk on TV. I watch very little traditional network shows. If there is a Good program it gets moved to a different day and time, you lose track of it and stop watching and network wonder why ratings go down!
Timeless is a intelligent well written show. It is a shame that it was put into such a poor time spot. There are so many mundane lowbrow shows on TV. Please stop going for the lowest common denominator and give us shows families can enjoy together. This show was one of those shows.
I wish another channel would pick it up, like what happened with JAG, and now we have several NCIS spinoffs. I hope NBC hasn’t made the same mistake.
They should at least do a movie, since the show ended in a cliffhanger. I would definitely watch it. Too bad Netflix couldn’t pick up the series.
I would definitely watch the movie. I am so upset that they cancelled this yet again. Was so excited after the fans all protested last year and the show was brought back. I agree with most of the comments listed here that there is too much crappy “Reality” tv. These are not shows that are anything more than mindless crap!! I am pretty much done with series on network TV-they never seem to tie up these cliffhangers….
