The Alone Together TV show has been ordered to series at Freeform. The half-hour scripted comedy comes from The Lonely Island comedy group of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer.

Alone Together stars Esther Povitsky and Benji Aflalo as platonic best friends. Chris D’Elia, Ginger Gonzaga, Edgar Blackmon, Hayley Marie Norman, Kamilla Alnes, Jim O’Heir, and Justine Lupe guest star in the Freeform pilot.

Freeform continues to grow its roster of original series, by picking up scripted comedy “Alone Together” to series, it was announced today by Karey Burke, executive vice president, Programming and Development, Freeform.

“We are so proud of this series as it perfectly embodies the evolving Freeform brand and our dedication to programming for the 20-something viewer,” said Burke. “Our audience will quickly fall in love as we did with real-life best friends Esther and Benji, who navigate a world of perfect 10s as self-proclaimed 6s.”

“Alone Together,” is a half-hour, single-camera comedy starring Esther Povitsky (“Lady Dynamite,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”) and Benji Aflalo (“Not Safe with Nikki Glaser”). Esther and Benji are platonic best friends who want nothing more than to be accepted by the vain and status-obsessed culture. Despite their sometimes contentious relationship, when push comes to shove, they’ve got each other’s back…and they have nobody else to hang out with. In addition to Povitsky and Aflalo, the pilot episode features guest stars Chris D’Elia (“Undateable”), Ginger Gonzaga (“Wrecked”), Edgar Blackmon (“Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping”), Hayley Marie Norman (“Adam Ruins Everything”), Kamilla Alnes (“American Horror Story”), Jim O’Heir (“Parks and Recreation”) and Justine Lupe (“Younger”).

“Alone Together,” comes from Esther Povitsky, Benji Aflalo and Eben Russell (“Girl Boss”), who serve as writers and executive producers. Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, Akiva Schaffer, Billy Rosenberg and Hunter Covington also serve as executive producers. Daniel Gray Longino (“Lady Dynamite,” “Portlandia”) directed the pilot.
