When Tom Bergeron left as the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos, many suspected that the venerable show might be headed for cancellation. Not so. Alfonso Ribeiro will soon be hosting his second season in the fall when the series returns for its 27th season.
Here’s part of the network’s press release about the renewal:
“AMERICA’S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS” (Season 27)
“America’s Funniest Home Videos,” the longest-running primetime entertainment show in ABC history, returns for season 27 with the same mission – to provide viewers with hysterical moments that fly by at a dizzying pace. These real-life blunders are fun for everyone, from viewers age four to one hundred and four. “AFV,” the show that invented the viral video, continues to be a Sunday night tradition for millions of families from coast to coast. Hosted by actor and “Dancing with the Stars” champion Alfonso Ribeiro, “America’s Funniest Home Videos” has given away over $14 million in prize money and evaluated more than a million video clips from home viewers.
Vin Di Bona and Michele Nasraway serve as executive producers. “America’s Funniest Home Videos” is produced by Vin Di Bona Productions.
ABC has also renewed: The Bachelor, Black-ish, Dancing with the Stars, Fresh Off the Boat, The Goldbergs, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, The Middle, Modern Family, Once Upon a Time, Scandal, Shark Tank, and Quantico.

Whoever makes the selection of videos that are voted on to win the money needs to step back. Some are funny but most are not.
I like the host but I think child abuse should be discouraged. It’s not even funny when an adult gets hurt but it’s criminal when children are hurt and parents are paid for it what will be acceptible in 20 years?? Porn videos. No difference when children are victims. I’m surprised you haven’t been sued. This is not ancient times kids have rights. I hope they sue ABC when they are 18
America’s Funniest Home Videos never gets tired. It’s a hoot!!! We thought it couldn’t survive Tom Bergeron leaving, but we stuck with it and feel Alfonzo Ribeiro is doing a fantastic job!
Please renew this series! My family loves watching all the different videos and love the show! Hope it lasts another 27 years!
I love Alfonso. I didn’t think I could like anyone other than Tom, as he was by far the best host the show ever had but Alfonso is funny and is a great choice. Watch the show every Sunday with the family.
I can’t stand Alfonso hosting he is terrible!! I do not watch anymore because he is terrible. I’ve tried to watch cause I love the show but shut it off after a few minutes!!
I can’t stand AFV as most of the videos are NOT funny but disgusting. I’m sure you get hundreds of funny videos but don’t show them. Watching children’s nose crap oozing out of their heads, or some kid puking on a cake, or a person/animal shitting is NOT funny. You are incapable of showing good funny videos. I watch a cute funny video and it’s followed by some kid puking on a cake followed by all the kids throwing up…..How is that funny??? I watched AFV for years can not stand Alfonso, as the host. We stopped watching. Would love to see another host or no one is going to tune in. So sad it was a great show.
I hate Alfonso, horrible host. Can’t get through 5 mins without having to turn it off. He’s so bad.
The show should be cancelled. It’s not funny at all and the host is horrible. How this crap stays on is beyond me!
I will give a rating for AFV. It’s awful since Tom isn’t the Host anymore. The host that you have now isn’t worth watching, he makes the show unbearable to watch. Please get someone that is professional or quit the show.
