TNT continues to move towards gritty programming as evidenced by their new Animal Kingdom drama series. Previous attempts haven’t worked out very well in the ratings so it remains to be seen if this one will be different. Cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
Animal Kingdom revolves around a 17-year-old named “J” (Finn Cole) who moves in with his deceased mother’s family — a Southern California clan of criminals. Heading up the family is J’s unpredictable and manipulative grandmother, Janine “Smurf” Cody (Ellen Barkin). The rest of the cast includes Scott Speedman, Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, Jake Weary, Daniella Alonso, and Molly Gordon.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

An addictive show with great characters and portrayals; It tests the viewer on
whether or not to disdain the “Kingdom” for their criminal activity, or root for
them anyway as you become involved with their lives and wonder if they ever get “out” of the game. Would really like to follow for at least another season.

YES! I WANT MORE ANIMAL KINGDOM. I personally think that the show didn’t get enough publicity. The only way I heard about it was from a friend who accidentally left the TV on the TNT channel, fell asleep, ananwhen she woke up Animal Kingdom was on, and she told me about it. If I would’ve ran across it on the guide, I know that I would definitely pass it right up. Just advertise the show more already, & I KNOW THAT THE RATINGS WILL GO WAY UP.
