Glover played Troy Barnes in the ensemble comedy, which also starred Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, and Danny Pudi. The show originated on NBC and moved to Yahoo for the sixth and final season in 2015.
While discussing his new FX series Atlanta, Glover said he didn’t return to Community because he wanted to maintain a sense of finality:
I think everything should have death clauses in them. Humans have death clauses. Like, thank God, one day, [Donald] Trump is gonna die. That’s guaranteed. That’s awesome. It’s important that things end. I’m glad things end because it forces things to progress. I get really frustrated in the world because I see a lot of things that could be better but aren’t better because things haven’t died yet.”
Later, he added that he did enjoy his time on the series:
I had so much fun on Community. It wasn’t that I wanted to run away from it.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Community? Are you sad Troy wasn’t in the series finale?
