canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Bull: Cancel or Keep the New CBS TV Show?

by Trevor Kimball, October 25, 2016

Bull TV show on CBS: cancel or keep for season 2?Michael Weatherly left NCIS last season but he’s back on CBS with the new Bull TV show. Was it a good move? How is Bull doing in the ratings? Most new TV shows are cancelled after one season. Will this be one of them? Cancel or keep it?

Inspired by the early career of Doctor Phil McGraw, the Bull TV show revolves around the brash and charming Doctor Jason Bull (Michael Weatherly). He combines psychology, human intuition and high tech data to learn what makes jurors, attorneys, witnesses and the accused tick. His team members are played by Freddy Rodriguez, Geneva Carr, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Annabelle Attanasio, and Christopher Jackson.

The show premiered on September 20th to a 2.21 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 15.56 million viewers. That was a very positive start for a new series. CBS wisely aired it after the Weatherly’s previous series so that no doubt helped draw in viewers.

The second episode dropped about 14% in the ratings which is a reasonable second week decline. Episode three also fell and the fourth installment fell as well, dropping to a 1.57 demo rating with 12.29 million.

While Bull’s numbers have been declining, it’s still CBS’ most watched new show and is averaging 13.62 million viewers. It’s still very early in the season but, at this point, it looks like the network won’t be cancelling Bull any time soon.

But, what do you think? Do you like the Bull TV show on CBS? Should it be cancelled? If you’ve watched the program, will you keep watching? Cancel or keep it?

I like Michael Weatherly and I watched every episode to give it a chance. But I never liked the premise (trying to game the trial by jury system and actually being proud of doing it), and I am not enamored of the cases. Especially the last one, with the student-teacher relationship, and of course, throwing in PC so that it is an interracial encounter. What is to gain from watching that? I deleted the episode and probably will not watch another. When will Hollywood learn?

Try as I might, I just couldn’t get too interested in the show. Love Weatherly and I knew that his character was going to be totally different. He’s a good actor; however, this show is very slow moving and not interesting at all. After 4-5x of trying to get interested, I just couldn’t. He needs to go back to NCIS where there is action and become Tony again.

The show is keeper if writers can come up with new twists and turns for future cases. There is on criticism however- just finished watching new episode ‘Teachers Pet’ . They say that the scene is in New Jersey but the diner they are in is the Jackson Hole ( Airline ) Diner. Very famous for most NYC residents. Got to do better than that.

I vote to cancel. I can’t decide if I don’t like the show or Michael in the role. I loved him on NCIS.

He is not the same as NCIS. He is charming, thoughtful, vulnerable, admits to mistakes. Love his character as Dr. Bull.

I enjoy watching Bull. I really enjoyed Michael Weatherly’s character on NCIS; totally enjoy him as Bull. Show takes some twists and turns; shows the problems associated with getting a totally unbiased jury; exposes problems of gossip and unchecked social media in pursuit of justice in a courtroom. I hope they keep the show on the air as long as Michael wants to keep it going.
