The fat lady is finally warming up for the fine folks at the BAU. CBS has announced it has renewed the long-running Criminal Minds TV show for a 15th and final season. As of now the plan is for the final season to consist of just 10 episodes, which will cap the series off with an impressive total of 325. Variety reports they will shoot, “back to back” with the 14th season, which is currently in production.
A CBS law enforcement procedural, Criminal Minds stars Joe Mantegna, Paget Brewster, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez, Daniel Henney, and Aisha Tyler. The crime drama follows the FBI’s elite Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) out of Quantico, Virginia. The BAU remains dedicated to understanding predators’ motive and triggers, in order to stop them before they strike again.
Criminal Minds: A Look at the Ratings
The 14th season of Criminal Minds is averaging a 0.75 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.68 million viewers. Compared to season 13, that’s down by 24% and 18%, respectively. Find out how Criminal Minds stacks up against the other CBS TV shows.

The show has also not been without controversy during its run. Most recently, Variety exclusively reported that the show’s long-time director of photography, Greg St. Johns, had faced multiple accusations of abusive behavior and sexual harassment towards crew members. St. Johns has since left the production. Prior to that, series star Thomas Gibson was fired from the show after an on-set altercation with a producer.

Are you out of your minds over there at CBS? Criminal Minds is one of the best shows on television today and you are canceling it just because the ratings fell a little bit in 2019? Every good show’s ratings fluctuate. When they go down a bit is more encouragement to write better scripts and hire better screenwriters and directors. There is nothing wrong with the cast. Renew this show over and over! One of the best shows on TV! An adult show fot a change.
The reason for the ratings decline is most likely the stupid decisions made by the people who run this show. I know this is an old article but I wanted to give my opinion. They’ve jerked viewers around time and time again playing fast and loose with the cast. There was no reason to fire Paget and AJ other than that some network jerk wanted to see bigger boobs and shorter skirts. The replacements they brought in were awful. Then they fired a fan favorite (Thomas/Hotch) and drove away another (Shemar). Then they hired more people who just don’t cut… Read more »

I have watched criminal minds from the beginning. I love the stories and all the actors.
I am very saddened for the cancellation of the series. I would hope that CBS would rethink their decision.
I have loved this show from day 1 and these actors have evolved and this show is so intense I can’t imagine not seeing it anymore. The finale in season 14 with AJ and Matthew WOW they knocked it out of the park. I was crying right along with her. I can’t wait to see how that plays out. Please don’t cancel this show!
