Many different directions. A power-mad sociopath(Seers-Cultists) wants to build a fleet of precognitives in order to rule the galaxy by force.Android meets a group of other free-willed Androids(future Cylons), who may be a faction of interest. The Raza visits a parallel dimmension and gets to see how different things might have turned out. They return again with an unknown third party in tow, that may be relevant for future episodes.(Derrick Moss returned) Blink drive – can go anywhere, for example Kepler-186f (560 light-years from Earth) and KIC 8462852 (1480 light-years from Earth) – where there may be an extraterrestrial civilization. I agree, it’s a great setup for a long storyline! 24 episodes per season… (I so wish). Remember the days when sci fi shows were automatically granted that many eps? So many shows seem to be retreating to a 10-13 format these days. Or the miniseries thing.

The only reason these series have been reduced to 13 episodes is to avoid the loss of money if the series tanks in the ratings. The history of sci-fi, and in fact many genre has been to test the success of a storyline with the audience with a couple seasons to see if it has staying power. If the ratings stay strong throughout two seasons, they get bumped up to 20 episodes. If they teeter at the low end averaging less than..2 they know the series has the potential of tanking in the ratings within a few episodes because the… Read more »

Hahaha, 25 dislikes of a truthful explanation of how this industry works and why there are only 13 episodes, which every director, writer and producer knows to be correct.

It shows how out of touch these fans are with reality…. and how little they know of how this industry is run…..GROW UP and stop living in a fairytale world, that’s for the actors to do in entertaining you.

Try reading what I wrote and not what you imagine. I explained why it only has 13 seasons, not that it should be cancelled. That is how the industry works…. GROW up! It won’t get 20 episodes until it can prove a consistent audience base to support the cost, and that advertisers will fund it That can happen as soon as the network is confident of its longevity. And it can still bomb in the ratings and be cancelled if they change the story line to cause fans to lose interest. That’s what happened to BSG, which had 20 episode… Read more »

Dark Matter TV show was renewed after only 9 episodes. I guess that means something ? Rating in other countries ? (has a low U.S.A rating) May be ?

It means NOTHING more than they are risking another 13 episode season because their ratings have stopped the nose dive for now. It means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING towards a long run. They could be cancelled half way through next season and finish the year without all the episodes being aired. It’s all up to the writers to preform. I don’t need to re-read anything I wrote, I know what I wrote from the beginning. I said it would be cancelled if the ratings continued to fall….I was right! I said the only way they would get renewed was if the writers… Read more »

Myzsterious Mizster Moss. He joins the Raza not for vengeance, but he escaped, from the killer his father and wife. If he became visually someone else completely who no one would think to be Derrick himself, and joined the same mercs that any corporation/rich individual would hire to go after someone like himself. And maybe he thought that eventually he could make a difference with them , or maybe he just did like all the others (abandon his real self in disbelief he could actually make a difference and just became a survivor who puts up the facade that keeps him… Read more »

I’ve double checked our source and that’s what we have. Is the viewership the same? If so, it would be odd for the demo to take a big leap up (nearly a season high) while viewership essentially remained the same.

Him the android is slipping….hmmm could it be that more humanized chip? Loved Two and Portia – great acting by Melissa both had very distinct personalities. I hope that Derrick Moss was the stowaway on the FTL marauder. I really miss his presence in the show. Love his alternate personality which seems to be very similar to the real Jace Corso. Great episode.

This series represents a gasp of clean pure air to sy-fy. As someone mentioned not only it is not a spin off nor a sequel, neither copies any concept from other series of the genre. It pops with a multi layer story with a cast that is awesome. The first season was very good, making use of the character backstory to help us get invested in the characters very early on. It had heart, mystery, action and I didn’t see the tropes others mentioned, because each character is not what they seem (obviously, since they don’t know themselves, lol)… and their… Read more »

S02E08 question – who he is returned (FTL MARUADER) ?
Has to be Moss. The actor is still a regular and this is a very creative way to keep him in the story. Didn’t Two leave Wexler passed out on the Marauder ? Why not both ? Wexler and Moss! It would be neat if he’s evil Moss with Corso’s face. This eventually leads him to assume the identity of both dead guys. I love so much this TV show !! Please, renew it !!

Unless of course, due to the multiverse theory, they get to cherry pick what happens in which universe.Six doesn’t survive because Five isn’t there to create said mindwipe. Four regained of his throne. Derrick Moss take Corso’s identity to board the Raza for revenge. So, Derrick Moss boards the Raza, spends a year with them and as such, is sort of corrupted by the others.

I’m LOVING season 2 & really hoping they bring back One/Corso! Ever since I saw the previews last year, I could hardly wait for the premier & IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I’m a 48yr old woman who hasn’t enjoyed much SYFY since the first/original Star Wars movies & Lost In Space reruns I watched growing up! But now I’m hooked on Dark Matter! I look forward to watching it every week! Its my favorite summer show & I want/need a season 3! Not to mention, more episodes in the “seasons”! I love the dynamics between these characters, & the ground… Read more »

Dark Matter – S02E08 “Stuff To Steal, People To Kill” Great episode, not just for the plot, but for avoiding typical storylines that accompany parallel universe/alternate versions of characters tropes. There’s now a FTL capable maurader upgrade running around the original universe. What I want to know is, is it actual Corso or Moss ? I’m betting Moss. I’m guessing find out if his wife is still alive. And of course, she’s not. So upon establishing he’s in a dead wife timeline, I assume he would once again take up his revenge campaign against the Raza crew. Or at least,… Read more »

“Season 2, Ep.07 – She’s One of Them Now” Now that the Raza is in a parallel universe, I wonder if One/Jace Corso will make a reappearance. We already know there’s another Raza ship in this alternate reality, so anything could happen. Duplicate forms of each of the crew members isn’t entirely out of the question. Also, second episode in a row with a space battle, which is never a bad thing. 🙂 I’m not sure if anyone else is concerned by this, but… this new concept of only producing 13 episodes per season is really starting to bother me.… Read more »

The Seers/Cultists are a race of advanced humans with high levels of CPA, (Cognitive Predictive Ability). This allows the Seer’s to predict the future and other possible outcomes. Members of an unorthodox cult who generally lives outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader. Our heroes (Raza crew) are the enemies with them. I wonder what’s next ?

Season 2 is so much better than 1. I didn’t like the killing of number 1 and had hoped maybe the Jace Corso character might be integrated somehow. Very disappointed his character is gone! I like the way the android has the option of humanizing herself, reminds me of Data on Star Trek. Would still watch a season 3, the show is getting better as we go along and is expanding the universe now that each character knows who they really are.

I am a 50 year old woman, yes I watched the original Star Trek but more than that I loved ST TNG much better. Along with Stargate, Firefly, etc. This show needs time to grow. Networks nowadays do not give shows enough time to develop. Out of all of the new Syfy shows in the past 3-4 years, Dark Matter is the ONLY one that reminds me of some of the great Scifi shows of the past, yet it is fresh and entertaining.
