160 Ended or Cancelled TV Shows for the 2015-16 Season

2015-16 canceled TV showsHere’s a list of TV shows that aired (or were expected to air) during the 2015-16 season (roughly September 2015 through August 2016) and that also won’t be back for the 2016-17 season.

7 Little Johnsons (TLC)
Discovery cancelled several shows and this was one of the casualties.

The 7D (Disney XD)
The show’s creator announced that the animated series was over after two seasons.

Agent X (TNT)
An American spy series, this cable drama didn’t attract much interest from viewers. There won’t be a second season.

American Gothic  (CBS)
It’s a good thing that the Silver Bells Killer’s accomplice was revealed because this mystery series won’t be back.

American Idol (FOX)
This singing competition was once the network’s top-rated show. Those days are long gone and it was announced that season 15 would be the end.

Angel from Hell (CBS)
The network decided to dump this Jane Lynch sitcom after five episodes had aired.

Any Given Wednesday (HBO)
This Bill Simmons hosted show was dropped after four months on the air.

Aquarius (NBC)
After two seasons of low ratings, the peacock network called it quits.

Awkward (MTV)
The cable channel announced that season five is the end but others are hoping there will be a sixth season.

The Awesomes (Hulu)
After three seasons, the streaming service decided to put this misfit superhero team out of commission.

Ax Men (History)
It was announced that there won’t be a 10th season of this docuseries.

Banshee (Cinemax)
An action series about a fugitive posing as lawman, this series drew low ratings and was renewed for a fourth and final season.

The Bastard Executioner (FX)
Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy was a big hit for FX but this series was not.

Bear Grylls: Mission Survive (ITV)
The UK channel has other projects in the works with Grylls but this one won’t be back.

Beauty and the Beast (The CW)
This romantic drama beat the odds and survived for years, despite low ratings. It’s now been decided that season four is the end of the show.

Bella and the Bulldogs (Nickelodeon)
Series star Brec Bassinger confirmed that the show had ended after two seasons.

Benders (IFC)
This comedy about a group of hockey enthusiasts drew low ratings so there won’t be a second season.

Beowulf (Esquire)
ITV produced the series in the UK and reportedly decided against ordering a second season.

Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris (NBC)
This live variety-game show did okay in the ratings but was expensive and the numbers weren’t good enough to secure a second season order.

Billy & Billie (DirecTV)
A dramedy about a pair of step-siblings who have a romantic relationship, this series ended after one season with a unique series finale.

Bitten (Syfy)
It’s been decided that season three is the end for this female werewolf series. Could the story continue somehow?

Blood & Oil (ABC)
A Sunday night Dallas-like drama, this series did poorly in the ratings right from the start and saw its episode order cut. It won’t be back in 2016.

Bordertown (FOX)
The network has had great success with animated comedies but this wasn’t one of them.

BrainDead (CBS)
The bugs won’t be back for a second season. The network cancelled this satirical series after one season/summer.

Brief Encounters (ITV)
The cancellation of this UK series, about a group of 1980s women selling lingerie and sex toys, was cancelled after one season.

The Briefcase (CBS)
Airing during the summer, this reality show was slammed by critics for taking advantage of the less fortunate. The ratings were also low so it won’t be back.

Brothers in Atlanta (HBO)
This Lorne Michaels comedy about struggling entertainers and friends in Atlanta was ordered to series in April 2015. It was later decided to cancel the project.

Bubble Guppies (Nickelodeon)
Cast member Brianna Gentilella revealed that season four was the end of the animated series.

Castle (ABC)
The network was making plans for a ninth season (without Stana Katic) but decided to cancel the show instead.

Children’s Hospital (Adult Swim)
Rob Corddry announced on Twitter that there wouldn’t be an eighth season of the dark comedy series.

Codes of Conduct (HBO)
The cable channel produced a pilot and greenlit six episodes but later cancelled the series.

Containment (The CW)
This drama about a mysterious epidemic was cancelled before the 13 episodes had finished airing.

Continuum Syfy
This Canadian sci-fi series ran for four seasons and 42 episodes before ending in the fall of 2015.

Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life (FOX)
After weeks of poor ratings, the network pulled this comedy series. They later cancelled it.

The Coroner: I Speak for the Dead (Discovery)
The cable channel cancelled several shows and this was one of the casualties.

Coupled (FOX)
Mark Burnett’s dating series drew low ratings and it was dropped after one season.

Crowded (NBC)
Patrick Warburton has had some successful sitcoms but this wasn’t one of them.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (CBS)
This procedural series was once the highest-rated show on the network. Those days are long gone though and CBS decided to end the show with a two-hour farewell.

CSI: Cyber (CBS)
It’s the end of an era with the cancellation of this series, the last in the CSI franchise (at least for now).

Cuffs (BBC One)
This UK series follows a group of Sussex front-line police officers. The day after the first season finale aired, it was announced that there won’t be a second season.

Da Vinci’s Demons (Starz)
It was decided that season three is the end for this cable drama.

Damien (A&E)
Based on The Omen feature film, this cable drama lasted one season of 10 episodes.

Dead of Summer (Freeform)
This horror series won’t be back next summer for a second season.

Deadbeat (Hulu)
The streaming service decided that three seasons was enough for this Tyler Labine comedy.

Devious Maids (Lifetime)
This drama was dropped after four seasons and 49 episodes, thanks to big drops in the ratings.

Dr. Drew (HLN)
After more than five years on the air, the cable channel dropped this current affairs series.

FABLife (syndicated)
Tyra Banks announced that she was leaving her new daytime show and a couple months later, it was announced that the series was being cancelled.

Faking It (MTV)
A high school dramedy about a pair of best friends, this series lasted for three seasons.

The Fall (Netflix)
It’s been announced that season three is the end for this UK crime drama.

The Family (ABC)
This low-rated thriller series was dropped after one short season.

Famous (FOX)
The network had planned to launch the new romantic comedy series in June 2016 but later decided to drop the project.

Feed the Beast (AMC)
Starring David Schwimmer, this gritty drama series didn’t attract enough viewers to be renewed for a second season.

Finding Carter (MTV)
After a big drop in ratings, the cable channel decided to cancel this drama — leaving plenty of cliffhangers)

Flesh and Bone (Starz)
The cable channel initially ordered a regular series but later decided to make it a one-season mini-series instead.

Fresh Meat (BBC)
This UK comedy series ran for four seasons and 30 episodes.

Galavant (ABC)
This musical comedy fantasy series ran for two seasons with low ratings.

Game of Silence (NBC)
This Thursday night drama has been cancelled after one season.

Getting On (HBO)
This low-rated and dark comedy was renewed for a third and final season.

Gigi Does It (IFC)
This comedy series features David Krumholtz as an elderly woman from Florida. It won’t be back for a second season.

The Good Wife (CBS)
With the series’ creators departing for another CBS series, the network decided to end this Sunday night drama after seven seasons.

Grandfathered (FOX)
This sitcom, starring John Stamos and Josh Peck, was dropped after one season.

Gravity Falls (Disney XD)
Alex Hirsch, the show’s creator, decided that the series should end after two seasons.

The Grinder (FOX)
Rob Lowe and Fred Savage have both had successful TV shows that lasted for many seasons. This wasn’t one of them.

Guilt (Freeform)
This thriller series was cancelled after one season, leaving plenty of unresolved storylines.

Haven (Syfy)
Some fans became nervous when this series was renewed for a super-sized fifth season of 26 episodes. It was later announced that they would be the show’s last installments.

Heartbeat (NBC)
This medical drama was held until mid-season and only lasted 10 episodes.

Hemlock Grove (Netflix)
An original Netflix series, the streaming service announced that the third season was the show’s last.

Heroes Reborn (NBC)
If the ratings had been good enough, the peacock network would have surely wanted a second season. The numbers weren’t very good so there are just 13 episodes.

Hollywood & Crime (Discovery)
The cable channel cancelled several shows and this was one of the casualties.

Home Fires (ITV)
The UK series was cancelled after two seasons. So far, PBS has only aired the first season.

Houdini & Doyle (FOX)
Based on the friendship of Harry Houdini and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this mystery series drew low ratings so FOX cancelled it after one season of 10 episodes.

House of Lies (Showtime)
After five seasons, the cable channel decided to say goodbye to Don Cheadle and company.

Hunters (Syfy)
This science-fiction series drew low numbers and the cable channel bumped it to a midnight timeslot for the rest of the season. It was cancelled before the last episode had aired.

I Am Cait (E!)
Caitlyn Jenner’s docuseries has been cancelled after two seasons and 16 episodes. The final episode aired in April 2016.

Inspector Lewis (PBS)
Called Lewis in the UK, this crime drama wraps up after eight seasons and 33 episodes.

Instant Mom (TV Land)
This sitcom began on Nick at Nite and NickMom and then moved to TV Land. It was announced that season three is the end.

Jekyll and Hyde (ITV)
Series creator Charlie Higson tweeted that the series would not be returning for a second season.

The Jim Gaffigan Show (TV Land)
Gaffigan and his wife decided not to make a third season of their low-rated cable comedy.

Kevin From Work (Freeform)
This sitcom drew very low ratings so the cable channel ultimately decided to cancel it after one season.

Killer Confessions (Discovery)
The cable channel cancelled several shows and this was one of the casualties.

The Knick (Cinemax)
As expected, there won’t be a third season of this period drama.

Kocktails with Khloé (FYI )
This talk show was cancelled after just 14 episodes.

The League (FXX)
After seven seasons, it was decided that this show should call it quits.

Legends (TNT)
Starring Sean Bean, this action series drew low ratings in its first season but TNT renewed it anyway. They made a lot of changes for season two but the ratings got worse.  There won’t be a third season.

Limitless (CBS)
There won’t be a second season on the network. The show’s studio is hoping to find a new home for it.

Lockup (MSNBC)
The cable series has been cancelled after 25 seasons but the executive producer is hoping to revive it elsewhere.

Looking (HBO)
The cable channel has decided to end the gay-centric drama after two seasons but is wrapping the storylines with a movie.

Lucas Bros. Moving Co. (FOX, FXX)
The animated series debuted as part of FOX’s late night ADHD programming block and later moved to FXX. After months of no new episodes, it was revealed that the series is over.

Mad Dogs (Amazon)
The creators had one idea for what the second season could be and Amazon had another one. It was decided that the series would run just 10 episodes.

Make It Pop (Nickelodeon)
A musical comedy TV series, this show ran for two seasons and 42 episodes.

Manhattan (WGN America)
It’s been decided that there won’t be a third season of this period drama.

Marco Polo (Netflix]
The real-life Venetian merchant traveler had a long life but his TV series only lasted two seasons before being cancelled.

Maron (IFC)
Marc Maron announced that it was time to bring his show to a close after four seasons.

The McLaughlin Group (syndication)
This public affairs program was first established in 1982 and ran until August 2016, following the death of its host, John McLaughlin, a few days earlier.

Melissa Harris-Perry (MSNBC)
Following a disagreement with management, Harris-Perry has left the cable channel.

The Meredith Vieira Show (syndicated)
Changes were made in season two in an attempt to raise the ratings but it wasn’t enough. Season two is the final season.

Mike & Molly (CBS)
Actors from the sitcom revealed that season six would be the end and the network ended up admitting it later on.

Million Dollar Listing San Francisco (Bravo)
The cable channel decided to abandon the newest installment in the Million Dollar Listing franchise after one season.

Minority Report (FOX)
Another TV show that was based on a movie, this sci-fi cop series did terribly in the ratings and saw its episode order cut. It won’t be back in 2016.

Mistresses (ABC)
After a tumultuous four seasons, the network decided not to renew the summer drama for a fifth year.

Monopoly Millionaires’ Club (syndicated)
This game show is based on the Monopoly board game and won’t be returning for a third season.

Moonbeam City (Comedy Central)
A parody of 1980s cop shows, this neon animated comedy didn’t catch on with viewers so it was cancelled after one season of 10 episodes.

The Muppets (ABC)
Kermit and friends have been around for many years but their ABC series lasted one short season.

Murder in the First (TNT)
Starring Taye Diggs and Kathleen Robertson, this crime drama lasted three seasons and 32 episodes before it was cancelled.

The Musketeers (BBC America)
It was revealed that season three is the end for this UK adventure series.

The Mysteries of Laura (NBC)
Starring Debra Messing, this family cop drama ran for two seasons on the peacock network before being dropped.

Mythbusters (Discovery Channel)
It’s been decided that the 14th season of this science program is the end.

The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore (Comedy Central)
This comedy news program replaced The Colbert Report but didn’t attract a big enough audience.

No, You Shut Up (Fusion)
Host Paul F. Tompkins confirmed that the weekly talk show has been cancelled.

Not Safe with Nikki Glaser (Comedy Central)
It turns out that the cable channel isn’t a safe place for Nikki Glaser. The comedy series was dropped after one season and 20 episodes.

Of Kings And Prophets (ABC)
This Biblical series drew low ratings in its premiere and the numbers got much worse in week two. Not surprisingly, the network cancelled and pulled it.

Overhaulin’ (Velocity)
The channel announced that the series would end with four final episodes.

Party Down South (CMT)
The parties and drama may continue but the exploits won’t be filmed for television after season five.

Penny Dreadful (Showtime)
The series creator decided that three seasons was enough for this show.

Person of Interest (CBS)
After months of rumors, the network confirmed that season five is the end.

The Player (NBC)
After several weeks of low ratings, the network cut the show’s episode order to nine episodes. All of them aired and the series won’t be returning.

Powers (PlayStation Network)
Based on the comic book series of the same name, this superhero drama TV show lasted for two seasons and 20 episodes before being cancelled.

Project Greenlight (HBO)
HBO dropped the documentary TV series after two seasons and it was picked up by Bravo for a third season in 2005. HBO revived the series in late 2015 but has now decided to drop it once again. There’s talk that the series is being shopped elsewhere.

Public Morals (TNT)
Ed Burns created, wrote, directed, and starred in this period cop drama. Unfortunately, few people tuned in to watch. There won’t be a second season.

Raised by Wolves (Channel 4)
This UK comedy series ran for two seasons and 13 episodes before being cancelled.

Recovery Road (Freeform)
A drama about addiction and recovery, this drama was cancelled after one short season.

Review (Comedy Central)
This mockumentary comedy series has been renewed for a shortened third and final season.

River (Netflix) 11/18/15
This UK crime drama ran for six episodes and was released by Netflix in November 2015.

Rizzoli & Isles (TNT)
Though it’s still one of the cable channel’s top-rated shows, it was decided that seven seasons is enough.

Roadies (Showtime)
The cable channel had high expectations for this Cameron Crowe music drama but the audience just wasn’t big enough for them to renew it for a second season.

Royal Pains (USA Network)
After years of declining ratings, it was decided that season eight is the end for this venerable series.

Rush Hour (CBS)
The movies may have been a success but the TV series was not. It was cancelled midway through its first season.

Sanjay and Craig (Nickelodeon)
Voice actor Chris Hardwick confirmed that this animated series was done after three seasons.

Satisfaction (USA Network)
This drama had low ratings in its first season and they dropped by 50% in season two. The drop in ratings wasn’t a surprise since USA released the entire second season online and on-demand the day after the second season premiered. In any case, it won’t be back.

Second Chance (FOX)
This drama series had a hard time finding a title and then it had a hard time finding an audience. It was cancelled after 11 episodes.

Serial Thriller (ID)
Investigative Discovery has announced that the series ends with The Head Hunter mini-series.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll (FX)
The cable channel pulled the plug on the Denis Leary series after two seasons.

Sheriff Callie’s Wild West (Disney Junior)
There won’t be a third season of this musical comedy series for preschool kids.

The Soul Man (TV Land)
The cable channel has been dumping their traditional original sitcoms and this is the last to go.

The Soup (E!)
After a 22 year run, the cable channel has decided to can the clips comedy program. Joel McHale was the host for 12 years.

Stone Quackers (FXX)
The animated series ran for one season on FXX. After months of no new episodes, it was revealed that the series is over.

Suddenly Royal (TLC)
A docu-series about an American auto mechanic who discovers he’s the heir to a throne, this show lasted for eight episodes.

Sunnyside (Sky)
This Canadian sketch comedy series was dropped after one season.

Switched at Birth (Freeform)
The series creator announced that the Peabody Award-winning series would be ending with a shortened fifth season.

Telenovela (NBC)
Eva Longoria and company won’t be back for a second season.

Thirteen (BBC America)
The show’s creator confirmed there won’t be a second season.

Ties That Bind (UP)
This family cop drama was dropped after one season by the cable channel.

Togetherness (HBO)
The cable channel decided that two seasons was enough of this low-rated dramedy series.

Top Gear (History)
The UK version is continuing on but, at least for now, the US version is over.

Truth Be Told (NBC)
This Friday night sitcom drew very low ratings — even for a Friday night sitcom — and had its episode order cut. It won’t be back next season.

Tyrant (FX)
Following another season of low ratings, the cable channel announced that there won’t be a fourth year.

Uncle Buck (ABC)
The second sitcom based on the John Candy movie, the alphabet network burned off the six episodes in three weeks. The cancellation wasn’t a surprise.

Undateable (NBC)
This sitcom moved to Friday nights and the cast and crew put on two “live” telecasts each evening. In the end, not enough people tuned in.

Unforgettable A&E
This cop drama was cancelled (twice!) by CBS before being picked up for a fourth season by A&E. The ratings were terrible for season four and the cable channel cancelled it too.

Unusual Suspects (Discovery)
The cable channel cancelled several shows and this was one of the casualties.

The Vanishing Women (ID)
The docu-series, about six women who disappeared, comes to a close after six episodes.

Vicious (PBS)
After running for two seasons, it was decided to end the UK sitcom with a holiday special.

Vinyl (HBO)
The cable channel had high hopes for this series but it just didn’t work. The show had been given an early second season renewal but HBO took it back.

W/ Bob & David (Netflix)
A comedy sketch show created by and starring Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, this series ran for one season of four episodes and a “making of” special.

Wallander (PBS)
It was revealed that the fourth season is the end for this Kenneth Branagh drama series.

Wander Over Yonder (Disney XD)
Creator Craig McCracken broke the news that the animated series wouldn’t be back for a third season.

Wicked City (ABC)
This Tuesday night series stumbled right out of the gate and ended up being cancelled after just three episodes.

Wild Transport (A&E)
According to the show’s Facebook page, this series won’t be back for a second season.

The Willis Family (TLC)
This reality series was dropped after two seasons.

WITS Academy (Nickelodeon)
Every Witch Way lasted for four seasons but the spin-off just didn’t measure up and was cancelled.

You, Me and the Apocalypse (NBC)
It was decided that one season was enough for this British-American dramedy.

Note: Nashville has been removed because it has been revived by CMT. America’s Next Top Model has been removed from this list because it’s been revived for a 23rd season on VH1. Swamp People has also been removed.  History cancelled it but later reversed that decision.
