Parent-company Viacom rebranded Spike TV, earlier this year. The newly minted Paramount Network didn’t get off to the best start though, and emblematic of its rough beginning is the rocky road its new Heathers TV show took to the air. First it was postponed, then rescheduled, and then cancelled, because of all the recent school violence. When Paramount couldn’t find any takers, they decided to air nine of the 10-episode first season after all, with some content edited out. Are they just making back what money they can, or does this series stand a chance? Will Heathers be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A Paramount Network black comedy, Heathers stars Grace Victoria Cox, James Scully, Melanie Field, Brendan Scannell, Jasmine Mathews, Drew Droege, Jesse Leigh, Romel De Silva, Deanna Cheng, Adwin Brown, Cameron Gellman, and Brett Cooper. Guest stars in the first season include Shannen Doherty, Selma Blair, and Casey Wilson. Based on the 1988 film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, the story centers on Veronica Sawyer (Cox), the “Heathers” who rule the popular clique at Westerburg High School (Field, Scannell, and Matthews), and Veronica’s boyfriend, JD Dean (Scully). JD gives a whole new meaning to having a dark side and makes it clear no one is safe from his appetite for destruction, including Veronica.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

Note: Paramount pulled episodes seven and eight from the TV schedule but still released them online.
Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to come by so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
What do you think? Do you like the Heathers TV series? Should Paramount Network cancel or renew this TV show for a second season?
