Perhaps they should have called it The Quick and the Dead. The The Living and the Dead TV show has been cancelled by The BBC. The first and only season of the spooky supernatural series is slated to premiere on BBC America sometime this fall. In UK, Ashley Pharoah’s six-episode drama aired on BBC One between June 28 and August 2, 2016. The British network has confirmed The Living and the Dead TV series will not be renewed for a second season, Digital Spy reports.
The Living and the Dead stars Colin Morgan and Charlotte Spencer as newlyweds Nathan and Charlotte Appleby, and Nicholas Woodeson as Reverend Matthew Denning. The cast also includes: Malcolm Storry, Kerrie Hayes, Tallulah Rose Haddon, Joel Gillman, Elizabeth Berrington, Chloe Pirrie, Amber Fernée, Marianne Oldham, Pooky Quesnel, Ben Fox, Sarah Counsell, and David Oakes.
About The Living and the Dead:
When his mother dies, Nathan Appleby and wife Charlotte return to the family estate in an attempt to revitalize the farm that is the lifeblood of the local community. The BBC says when Harriet (Tallulah Rose Haddon), “… a vulnerable teenage girl is brought to Nathan, seemingly possessed by a terrifying spirit, he cannot leave her to suffer.” Here is more from The BBC:
Nathan is a pioneering doctor who has worked at the forefront of the emerging science of psychology. He’s an expert in mapping the dark places of the mind. Nathan believes there is always a rational or scientific explanation to be found for life’s mysteries. So though Harriet’s case is disturbing, Nathan must use every psychological technique he has to find a way to cure her. But what if Nathan is wrong – what if it’s not an illness of the mind? Could Harriet actually be haunted?

Great series with so much potential….bring it back
I cannot believe they cancelled this series and left us hanging!! It was soooo well done. Very suspenseful, and had so many unexpected twists…., so very much better then most other vehicles of the same out there. BRING THIS SERIES BACK!! Continue the story! Why must all the truly good writing and story telling be shoved aside for the trash!? I just don’t get it!! BRING IT BACK!!
Best thing I had watched in a long time..why it got cancelled is beyond me..
Just finished season one and am truly disappointed that there will be no season 2. I really enjoyed it.
Great scary stories without the gore and vulgar, which is uncommon. Well written and acted. Disappointing that they canceled.
I am so disappointed there is not going to be a season 2 of The Living and the Dead.
Doesn’t surprise me. Good well written, well acted drama’s don’t appeal to the reality TV generation. Colin Morgan has to be the best actor on TV.
Can’t believe there is no second series. The Living and the Dead was brilliant, imaginative & above all different to anything else on telly at the mo.
How is this possible!!?? You leave your viewers with an ending LIKE THAT???!!! WITH NO SEASON TWO!!?? For GODS sake at the very least make a TV movie to conclude. WTF!!
The one thing I hate the most is getting through the first season just to find out there is no second. Really enjoyed this show. Wish there was more.
Just finished watching this amazing show! Now I just discovered there will be no season 2 – WTF????
Just finished binge watching The Living and the Dead on Amazon Prime, and when I couldn’t find a second season, I went to find when it would be out. I mean, you can’t leave a cliff-hanger like that and not continue the story! Now I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that they left it with such a cliff-hanger, or the fact that there’s no second season… probably both if you ask me! I do hope that the BBC reconsiders, or at least allow someone else to pick it up. Excellent story!!!
Just watched this on Amazon Prime, loved it! Why did BBC cancel it? Please reconsider a second season/series, there were so many things and questions that need resolved. This was the type of show that given a chance could have took off once people found out about it, six episodes is not enough for people to grasp onto unless you can binge watch.
This was a great show!!!! Don’t get rid of series like and put carp on instead !!!!!
I found this show in Amazon and binge watch it ! … I just wish they could have done more episodes or another season. But the fact that they leave you with a cliffhanger and not continue to give closure to the viewer?..NOT COOL !
I found this show while flipping through my Amazon prime shows to watch. I was hooked instantly, and as I just finished it five minutes ago, I looked to see when it would be back on. Suffice it to say, that I was shocked to hear that it wouldn’t be! It really does need a second season, in order to answer several questions that were initiated by the season one finale. I do wish BBC would rethink their decision, and give us another season.
