TV show description:
This dramatic series revolves around Elizabeth McCord (Tèa Leoni), a newly appointed Secretary of State. She’s a shrewd and determined woman who drives international diplomacy, battles office politics and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues — both at the White House and at home.
A college professor and a brilliant former CIA analyst who left the agency for ethical reasons, Elizabeth returns to public life at the request of the President — following the suspicious death of her predecessor.
President Conrad Dalton (Keith Carradine) values her apolitical leanings, her deep knowledge of the Middle East, and her flair for languages. He also appreciates her ability to not just think outside the box, but to not even acknowledge there is a box.
McCord debates third world problems, finesses foreign dignitaries at work and does battle with the President’s combative Chief of Staff Russell Jackson (Željko Ivanek).
Elizabeth’s team includes her Chief of Staff Nadine Tolliver (Bebe Neuwirth), speechwriter Matt Mahoney (Geoffrey Arend), press coordinator Daisy Grant (Patina Miller), and her charming assistant Blake Moran (Erich Bergen).
In her personal life, she has a supportive husband, Henry (Tim Daly), and three children — Stephanie “Stevie” (Wallis Currie-Wood), Alison (Katherine Herzer), and Jason (Evan Roe).
Episode #120 — Leaving the Station
President Elizabeth McCord kicks off a new landmark political initiative with help from members of the World Cup Champion U.S. Women’s Soccer team, while Flo Avery (Cicely Tyson), who was born the day women were granted the right to vote, looks on. Opposing the initiative is Senator Amy Ross (Tyne Daley) from Ohio. Also, the McCords overcome last-minute obstacles to pull off a spectacular family celebration with a reunion of familiar faces, that includes a performance by Peter Frampton.
First aired: December 8, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think it should have ended or been renewed for a seventh season?
This has become an absolute favorite in our household. Tea Leoni has surprised me, and is “outstanding” in the role of the Secretary of State. Madam Secretary may be one of he 5} Best shows on TV right now. Keep It Running…………….
As an occasional political animal (for ethical reasons), I appreciate the presentation of what ethical choices some top echelon politicians must face. Tèa Leoni’s performance is very credible. (In real life, wouldn’t she be too young for the job?)
The script compared to LCD (Lowest Common Denominator) shows, such as- 2 Broke Girls, is like mountain air compared to the Black Hole of Calcutta.
Overall – thoroughly enjoyable!
Love this show, , it’s the only adult series my husband and I watch together! Great acting with energetic suspenseful story lines -what’s not to like and why would cancelling be considered? !
Great show. Suspenseful story lines. Intelligent writing.
Almost high intensity, lost me at the singing, goodbye
Definitely continue this series It’s FABULOUS
LIVE THE CHARACTERS AND THE DIALOGUE IS EXCELLENT
CONGRATULATIONS WELL DONE
Madam Secretary is an excellent, adventurous, generally intellectual alternative to the far-more common, less imaginative action-adventure TV show. It is definitely worth renewing with it’s very interesting cast of characters and most notably Tia Leone.
I love this show, I know we are behind in Australia but please do not cancel it, it’s fantastic to watch.
What? I can’t believe you would even ask. It is such a good series. Oh, it is 7000 times better that all that other junk that is out there. The actors / actresses fit their part perfectly. When I saw the first one I knew that this was another of those 9 – 10 year series. How could you even think about cancelling this??
Love the show. Great chemistry between characters, great story lines that are timely. DO NOT CANCEL ! I am rewatching season 1 now.
Yes Madam Secretary should continue.
Terrific show
I Love this show! Please don’t cancel!
I love this show and I am looking forward to many more seasons. Please don’t cancel it.
I love this show and watch it on On Demand when I miss it. It is right up there with West Wing, which is still one of my favourite shows. Smart, interesting and relevant plots that keep me intrigued, unlike most of the other shows on TV. Also love the intersecting personal storylines that connect the characters.
This show is great, do NOT cancel. It gives you a different perspective from the white house. It is not focusing on the president like other shows.
