Two years ago, the Mom TV show beat the odds and was one of the few CBS TV shows to see its ratings rise year-to-year. Last season, that wasn’t the case. Will this sitcom’s numbers rise this year or will they continue to fall? Will it be cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned.
On the Mom TV show, Christy (Anna Faris) is a single mom in recovery who’s returned to live with her single mother, Bonnie (Allison Janney), who’s also in recovery. Christy is tested daily as Bonnie tries to make up for all the ways she’s let her daughter down. Christy is further challenged by her relationships with her own kids, Violet (Sadie Calvano) and Roscoe (Blake Garrett Rosenthal), and Roscoe’s dad, a former slacker named Baxter (Matt Jones). To help her stay sober, Christy relies on her support system from AA which includes her sponsor Marjorie (Mimi Kennedy), wealthy sponsee Jill (Jaime Pressly), and her emotional friend, Wendy (Beth Hall). Christy tries to remain positive but it always seems like an uphill battle.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/12 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The third season of Mom on CBS averaged a 1.69 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.91 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Mom TV show on CBS? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season five?
3/23 update: CBS has renewed Mom for a fifth season for 2017-18. Details here.
Please Please Please renew the show, it’s great comedy, love the cast, and nice to see some great comedy, the case is awesome, love love love it…. age 60..
Yes you should renew the show!
Like the show and actors however the laugh trac drives my wife and I nuts. At times we mute and use subtitles. You do not need a laugh trac!
I absolutely think it should be renewed! I love it! It’s funny and it also has some important information and encouragement for the millions of people in North America that are dealing with addiction issues, either themselves or with their family or friends. It’s more realistic than other sitcoms
Hiii, I hope you are having a nice day. I think the show is amazing and should be renewed. It would be a crime to let it go. Hopefully, the network will announce their plans soon and I am praying there will be a season 5. Anna Faris is a great comidian actress and made for the show; as well as the other cast; Bonnie, Marjory and Jill are cracking me up. How about a wedduíng between Bonnie and Adam? I mean she already talk about it that time she was stoned on the playground and I betcha’ it would… Read more »

Mom is an awesome show! It has great subject matter majority of the time. Most people can relate. Please do not cancel mom, its a great show
Watched first year….. Now it is just trash and where are the children? No longer a fan very boring!
As a male at the upper end of the desired demo, I want you to know that this is my favorite show on TV. The acting is superb but more importantly, this show continually addresses subjects I’ve never seen mentioned on TV, let alone a sitcom. The issues include a spot on Bonnie’s butt which she refused to go to the doctor about as she was terrified to find out if it was skin cancer (it was) and a heroin addict who shows up at AA meetings after getting his clean-for-6-months girlfriend to go back to heroin and she subsequently… Read more »
