For the first seven seasons of its original run on ABC, the Roseanne TV show was one of the most watched shows on television. It still came in 16th, in season eight and in the top 35, in season nine. After 21 years, Roseanne is back, but is it better than ever? Does the television audience still have an appetite for Conners, the way it does for NBC‘s Will & Grace? Will Roseanne be cancelled or renewed for season 11? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A family sitcom on ABC, the Roseanne TV series revival stars Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, Michael Fishman, Alicia Goranson, Sarah Chalke, Emma Kenney, Ames McNamara, and Jayden Rey. Returning guest stars include Johnny Galecki, Sarah Bernhard, Estelle Parsons, James Pickens Jr., Natalie West, and Adilah Barnes. The comedy centers on working-class couple Roseanne and Dan Conner (Barr and Goodman), their family, and friends. Chalke, who replaced the departing Goranson as Becky in the original series, is returning in a new role. The reboot features new stories which touch on contemporary issues facing American families.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/23 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.

This season’s ratings makes season 2 look like a show on the CW!
I was disappointed in this show within the first few minutes of the 1st episode.
What a depressing show!
Don’t care if they bring it back or not.
I am disappointed that Roseanne has been canceled by ABC. I enjoyed it and I doubt that whatever Rosanne said was no worse than comments I have heard lately in other places. People make mistakes but why should they be blackballed for it. The show was good. I’m tired of seeing liberal point of view. This show had both. Maybe Fox will acquire it like it did Tim Allen’s show.
Thank you for bringing the show ‘Roseanne’ back! It was a great show years ago and now it is very good! The characters are still great and Roseanne and Dan and all the children work together in loving relationships. When I have spoken to people about the New ‘Roseanne’, many said they did not mind the light political humor in a some of the episodes. Will a dog come into the show at any time? It could be fun! For instance…D.J.’s wife could bring back a K9 Command, Unit German Shepherd (or other breed of dog) that is a protection… Read more »
I think there should continue to be some political sparing. Families are facing this, and I think the levity can ease some of the tension. With all of the one-sided political posturing, this is the first sit-com that I have enjoyed for a very long time.
Well since the ratings have evened out at 2.60 (for the last 3 weeks). It’s pretty safe to say that this is
The correct viewership in the 18-49 age group. Still ABCs biggest show. Plus total viewers are close to 11 million. No other ABC show bears that. So it was smart for ABC to renew the show for another full season.
I am in the over the hill viewership. Too bad ABC isn’t smart enough to keep Rosanne for another season.
One, they don’t care about total ratings, they care about that coveted 18-49 demographic (that first category), because they’re the ones with the most spending power, thus advertisers pay more to advertise to them than a bunch of old geezers who are retired and aren’t going out shopping. Two, The Bachelorette wins that demographic, ABC’s biggest show is that one, NOT the Conners.
The ratings declined from 5.16 to 2.60 in 7 episodes. ABC is a desperate network clinging by its nails to any show that gives it a sign of hope. Renewing a hyped series without waiting for it to be half-way into the season to see how it really performs in the ratings was a dumb move. And unless ABC puts a muzzle on the real Roseanne Barr, the ratings are not going to get better.
2.60 in that demo is still amazeballs and it’s been that for the last three episodes. Over 10 million viewers with a 2.60 is fantastic for a sitcom. It was definitely not a dumb move.
it is when you look at the season 2 premiere numbers.
I think ABC jumped the gun by renewing this lame show after only it’s premiere. It’s just not that good. The acting is sub-par this go-round, compared to the original and it’s really more of a social/political commentary vs an actual sitcom. Ratings have gone down each week since it’s premiere and I think that will continue as many only tuned in that first night out of curiosity. Time will tell, of course, but I think I am right about this.
It was kind of an awkward start, like everyone trying to find their rhythm but I definitely laughed. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the season.
OMGG….So is the CEO of ABC passed out and needing CPR from these ratings? Anyone know the last time, if ever, ABC had ratings even half this? If it can keep it, one can tell Telly he can assume this one gets a new season.
Agree, these days rating like this unreal. Are they real? Well does it matter? Since most people watch on the internet and don’t count on the ratings and demographics. Hence networks real know the real stats. If all goes to the network and the ads people buying time.
