Why was White Famous cancelled? Recently, Showtime bosses Gary Levine and David Nevins addressed the network’s decision to end the freshman TV show, Deadline reports.
From Jamie Foxx, the comedy centers on a young, talented African-American comedian, Floyd Mooney (Jay Pharoah), who tries to maintain his roots as he becomes more popular with mainstream audiences. The cast also includes Utkarsh Ambudkar, Jacob Ming-Trent, Lonnie Chavis, and Cleopatra Coleman.
At this year’s TCA winter press tour, Nevins explained why Showtime cancelled White Famous, saying the series wasn’t moving in the right direction:
[T]here were things that worked but ultimately we concluded that it was a show that was not moving the needle and was not going to move the needle in future; it was not on the right trajectory.”

I think the owners of Showtime jumped the gun on White Famous. It easily had the potential to be the new Californication. Just like David Duchovny, Jay Pharaoh was a charismatic ladies man who is all about family and talented in his line of work. Very curious about what the show could’ve become. Please bring it back!
This show was/is great! Bring this back for season 2! The character build was too good to leave us hanging.

This show was so good! I looked forward to seeing season 2, and now I don’t get the chance. Wow, what was the direction they were expecting the show to go in? I liked where it was going, and paid for a premium channel just to wait for that show. I’m very disappointed in Showtime…

Just finished 1st episode…I’m interested now! Especially at the fact it gives light to what these people have to go through and it was funny! Love Jay and Love Jamie. Hate there want be a season 2….maybe someone else will pick it up! Its happened before…remember “the game”!?

Started off slow but the actors the characters and storyline was very entertaining. Definitely disappointed. So much garbage shows get more time. Where’s Netflix when I need them. Please renew.
Yeah it is quite interesting and funny! A few other shows have been picked up after years! Netflix needs to redeem itself pick this one up it has the makings to be great! Jamie Foxx and Jay Pharaoh come on! That’s greatness in itself! Ijs
That was lame, the show should at least have been 2 seasons. WF was like a play on my favorite show CALIFORNICATION except Hank Moody played by Jay Pharoah.
