Deadline reports Freeform‘s Young & Hungry TV show spin-off, starring Ashley Tisdale and Aimee Carrero, has been named Young & Sofia, after Carrero’s character. Steve Talley has been cast as the male lead in the planned spin-off. The actor played Kevin in the Hindsight series that was initially renewed for a second season on on VH1, but was then cancelled before it came to pass.
Talley also played Kyle Wick on The 100 and Zack on Pretty Little Liars. He will reportedly play Kendrick, who’s described as “a super-hot, sexy and masculine journalist with Click’d Media.” Per Deadline, Ryan Pinkston will guest in the Young & Sofia backdoor pilot, which will air as Young & Hungry‘s eighth episode, in the current fourth season.
According to the report, Pinkston will have an option to be a series regular if Young & Sofia is ordered to series. He has been cast Leo. The character is described as “Insecure and brash, energetic with a self-deprecating wit, he is the pop culture editor at Click’d Media and competitive with Kendrick. He immediately spots Sofia as Logan’s next interviewee and is impressed by her easy chutzpah.”
Tisdale is reprising her Young & Hungry role, as Click’d Media editor and fashion plate, Logan Rawlings. The series follows Sofia, when she gets a job working for the demanding Logan. Sofia is said to find Kendrick intriguing, right off the bat. Tisdale, who executive produces Young & Hungry, will also executive produce Young & Sofia.
