America’s Funniest Home Videos: Season 29 Ratings

Published: May 21, 2019

America's Funniest Home Videos TV show on ABC: season 29 ratings (canceled or renewed season 30?)

After dropping off for a season, the America’s Funniest Home Videos TV show ratings rebounded last year to their previous levels.  As an unscripted program (read: less expensive), this series has a bit more leeway before cancellation becomes a real possibility. Sometimes, however, a network will put a long-running format on ice for a while, when its ratings fall too low. How will it do this time around? Will America’s Funniest Home Videos be cancelled or renewed for season 30? Stay tuned. *Status update below.

Executive produced by Vin Di Bona and Michele Nasraway, America’s Funniest Home Videos is the ABC television network‘s longest-running primetime entertainment show. Previous hosts include Tom Bergeron, D.L. Hughley, and Richard Kind, John Fugelsang and Daisy Fuentes, and the original host, Bob Saget. Regular people submit amateur videos featuring their boo-boos and blunders to the competition, in hopes the studio audience will award them cash and other prizes.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

5/20 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.

For comparisons: The 28th season of America’s Funniest Home Videos averaged a 1.01 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.201 million total viewers.

Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

How are your shows doing in the ratings? Check the current rankings:
A&E | ABC | AMC | Bravo | CBS | CMT | The CW | FOX | Freeform | FX | FXX
Hallmark | HBO | History | MTV | NBC | OWN | Showtime | Starz | Syfy | TBS
TNT | TV Land | USA Network | WGN America

What do you think? Do you still like the America’s Funniest Home Videos TV series? Should this ABC TV show be cancelled or renewed for a 30th season?

*10/29/18 update: AFV has been renewed for season 30 and season 31. Details here.

I don’t like it. I think it is cruel to watch people get hurt, even if it’s not that bad. A lot of the videos are just stupid and get on my nerves. The animals are the cutest and only funny thing on the show.

Just can’t seem to enjoy this show like I use to when Tom Bergeron was the host. He was funny on his own which added to the shows popularity. To be truthfu, I don’t watch it as much anymore.
