Although its audience skews older and doesn’t rack up the most impressive demo ratings for CBS, the Blue Bloods TV show remains a top performer in terms of total viewership. Still, every story has its end, and as the years pass, a show’s budget naturally increases to the point where a network can’t get enough bang for its buck. Is that time at hand? Will Blue Bloods be cancelled or renewed for season nine on the Tiffany Network? Stay tuned.
A CBS family drama, Blue Bloods stars Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, Sami Gayle, and Vanessa Ray. The police procedural centers on the Irish-American Reagans, a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Selleck) leads both the police force and his brood.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/12 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The seventh season of Blue Bloods averaged a 1.14 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.944 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Blue Bloods TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a ninth season on CBS?
4/18/18 update: CBS has renewed Blue Bloods for a ninth season. Details here.
This is my favorite show. The writing is incredible and satisfies the viewer from beginning to end. Losing Linda was a big loss just like when Jackie left as Danny’s partner. Develop more of Frank’s personal life to increase ratings.
Please continue this show! It is the best series on television!!
I hope this show will continue. It is the best series on television,,
I love Baby! Please!!! DO NOT CANCEL!!
I’m one of Blue Blood’s biggest fans, but I have become disappointed with season 8. Each week I feel like I’m watching an afternoon soap opera rather than an exciting cop show balanced out by the inner-workings of the Reagan family. I also am upset about the removal of saying “grace” at the dinner table. Why ruin a great thing? Did they change writers or directors? What happened to Danny Reagan’s aggressiveness and edgy detective work? Where is Jamie at all? He was only in the meal scenes for the last two shows? We need to see Jamie out on… Read more »
Please renew
The writers need to do something with the Will Estes & Vanessa Ray characters. That’s what will beef up the 18-49 demo
Would love for it to be renewed. It’s hard to find shows with great messages and good values as Blue Bloods. I have loved and enjoyed every episode of every season thus far.
I continue to watch Blue Bloods! I hope it is renewed for at least one more season. Friday night does not have anything worth watching. I am also confused as to why the 18-49 age group should indicate the “death” of a show. There are people from 50 to the 100’s who watch television. Do the decision makers think we do not matter. Get a grip. We are loyal to our shows not constantly changing with each new whim. Give us the same consideration that you are giving the millennials and others in that age group. Thanks….
I really enjoy this program. It is one of the few family first based series.
I think it should stay on TV and never be canceled!!
I love this show and I want it to continue to be on TV. I watch all the reruns, so pls continue to make new shows. I am a die hard fan.
Blue Bloods is hands-down the best show on television and has been for 8 years. It deals with normal people with interesting problems and really good Solutions. It teaches a lesson on every episode. The actors are outstanding. I would like to see it for another 8 years
I think Blue Bloods needs to find away to Bring Linda back. What a mistake to write her out of the script. It could do the show in.
Please do not cancel the show. I just binge watched 7 seasons on Netflix and now watching season 8 on CBS app. This is the best show on television. Shame on the network for taking the prayers out, that is what kept me watching. Also, shows that take people out or try to replace them find that they are loosing alot of viewers. If this needs to be done then it’s better to cancel and let the show remain what it really was. There are thousands of story lines yet to be told, why end such a good thing?
Yes please do Season 9!!! Our family and friends love it! We have already watched all episodes and rewatched all Netflix episodes. It’s the most fun, educational (about law) and clean movie out there. Good family values and morals.
