Despite yet another big drop in the ratings during the 2016-17 television season, the low-rated Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD TV show was not cancelled by ABC. Since Disney (i.e. the network’s parent company) also owns Marvel, do this show’s Nielsen numbers even matter? Because this fifth season will ensure a good sized syndication package, will Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD be cancelled or renewed for season six? Stay tuned.
An ABC sci-fi action-adventure drama set in the Marvel Comics Universe, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons, and Natalia Cordova-Buckley. With Ghost Rider’s help, last season, Coulson (Gregg) and his team saved the world. At the end though, their celebration was cut short, and soon, Coulson was aboard a spaceship. In season five, they will have figure out where they are and how to return home. Meanwhile, humanity’s time may be running out.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival.
