canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Mom: Season Three Renewal for CBS Comedy

by Trevor Kimball, March 11, 2015

Mom TV show on CBS: season 3CBS hasn’t made an official announcement yet but their Mom TV show has been renewed for a third season. Series writer Sheldon Bull broke the news on Twitter, writing, “MOM picked up for next year! Thanks, fans from all of us at MOM!”

On Mom, a single mom in recovery (Anna Faris) returns to live with her single mother, who’s also in recovery (Allison Janney). The cast of the show includes Sadie Calvano, Blake Garrett Rosenthal, Spencer Daniels, Matt L. Jones, Nick Corddry, Mimi Kennedy, and French Stewart.

Mom was a moderate success in its first year but, not surprisingly, the show’s ratings have improved this season as part of CBS’ Thursday night line-up. It’s currently averaging a 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.35 million viewers. It’s the only CBS scripted series to show season-to-season gains in both categories.

Mike & Molly has also been renewed for the 2015-16 season. The Big Bang Theory is one season into a three season renewal so executive producer Chuck Lorre will have at least three comedies on CBS next season.

What do you think? Do you like the Mom sitcom? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed? How does it compare to the other CBS comedies?

I WOULD RATHER WATCH “MOM” THAN ANT OTHER OF THOSE SO CALLED “REALITY SHOWS” ENOUGH WITH THEM ALREADY, WE NEED MORE COMEDY ESPECIALLY IN THE WORLD WE LIVE IN TODAY!

I really liked Mom in the beginning. I actually got my husband to watch it too. He liked it as much as I did. Then it slowly started getting less funny and more serious. I think it slowly started to change after the daughter moved out, then the father died, then the drug episode. My husband and I looked at each other and say why are we wasting our time on depressing stuff? Please bring back the funny in Mom and not the depressing things.

Mom is possibly one of the funniest and poignant comedies ever. I love it. I love the finely tuned balance between serious content and wonderful laugh out loud wit. The writing is superb and the acting excellent. Allison Janey has now secured her place as my favourite actress. Please, keep going.

I loved this show LAST YEAR because the supporting characters were NOT all recovering alcoholics. I guess the MOM that this show is referring to NOW is Bonnie since Christie presently has very little contact with her children (miss those episodes like when Violet went to her prom pregnant). I also enjoyed the scenes in the restaurant with French Stewart. I can’t relate to this show at all anymore so I won’t be watching next year.

I think MOM is the most important TV show of our time right now. It’s totally on target,it’s real, and has effective comic relief. I am also in recovery and I wish I saw this show years ago.

This is my very favorite show! Allison Janney is one of my most favorite actresses and I’d be so upset if they canceled. Please keep it coming because I know their popularity is growing considerably. They make me laugh like no other show and I’d hate to lose that! I sure hope they will be on for many more years to come!

I’m sorry, but I just don’t like this show. I can acknowledge that it is sort of funny, but I don’t care for the bleak tone of it. I can understand if they are going for authenticity, but it is more of a downer to me than anything.

I love MOM, too, and am really glad it’s been renewed. So I guess Tha Critic is in the minority! I will not miss 2 1/2 men… it got disgusting. And the McCarthy’s was just not that good.

I like MOM, am glad it was renewed. Also Mike & Molly mostly. ( The last few episodes have been very good.) I also liked The McCarthys, which I don ‘t think was given a fair chance to develop a following. I will miss Two & a HAlf Men, but feel it went out on a good note. The new version of The Odd Couple shows promise. As for Big Bang, it is one of my favorite shows, but I don’t want it to be the only show on television!

CBS should have put Mom in the 9 p.m. Thursday night time slot because airing repeats of Big Bang Theory is a very bad idea.
