Netflix could be branching out even further with its original content. In a recent interview, CEO Reed Hastings expressed hope for a more diverse array of entertainment, including an anime series.
Speaking with New York Times columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin, Hastings said Netflix is “hopeful that we’ll, over time, make a great Bollywood show, make a great Anime show.”
No one can deny the popularity of Netflix’s original series. So far this year, they’ve released more than 10 original series and their first feature film. Most recently, they premiered the comedy sketch series W/ Bob & David, and there’s considerable anticipation for their upcoming Marvel’s Jessica Jones superhero series, which debuts November 20.
But beyond that, the streaming platform has also ventured into more international territory. This year, they released the Colombian-set Narcos and Club de Cuervos, a Spanish-language series that was recently renewed for a second season.
