*8/22/20 update: Showtime has cancelled the Penny Dreadful: City of Angels TV show.
I think the show is fantastic I was hooked from episode 1 and look forward to seeing season 2 the plot twists is are amazing I sincerely hope that they renew and give the show more time
I love the show. Creative, creepy, scary, historical and the acting is spot-on.
I love the show. Creative, creepy, scary, nuanced and the acting is spot-on.
The best television horror/drama series I’ve ever seen. It evokes the era and the relevancy to issues, political, social, and cultural are right up to the second. Amazing writing, acting, and direction. The potential of this show is awesome! City of Angels deserves a second season.
I really enjoyed Penny Dreadful City of Angels season 1. The era, actors, and theme was very refreshing! So I hope there will be a season 2!
Terrible. Looks pretty but just terrible.
Love Penny Dreadful City of Angels. Great cast, creepy, lots of plot lines. Love the era and music. Hope it gets renewed. It’s a great show
I agree wholeheartedly!! PLEASE renew for many seasons to come!!
Nathan Lane is brilliant. Emmy Award material. This show is one of the best I have watched in years. The details of 1938 Los Angeles are absolutely spot on. This show demands a second season.
The acting and choreography is superb.
The cultural history is great. But the sexual scenes are not needed. How do we get a message to the script writers that is not needed.
This is simply a bad show that has no resemblance to the great and only “Penny Dreadful.” Cancel this travesty and bring back Vanessa and the original show.
You are basing your view based on a previous Penny Dreadful show. As a person who has not seen the previous Penny Dreadful shows, this new Penny Dreadful is terrific. You need to look at it objectively not comparitively.
I liked it better than the original and I have all the DVDs from the first series. I live in Southern CA, so maybe that’s one of the reasons I liked it so much?
The plots are disjointed an shallow. Natalie Dormer cannot handle multiple roles. Slow and boring. No character or storyline is developed enough to care about what happens. I loved the first Penny Dreadful.
I loved Natalie Dormer in this.
One question to the script writers..Is it really necessary to show a nude male having sex with another male. Or a woman and a man having sex? Not that I am a prude. I realize that there is ratings and warnings to let the viewer know. But honestly truly it is really out of hand. I am hooked with the story line, but the explicitness can be hinted without exhibiting…Am I right?
YES!!
I guess I didn’t watch that part, but I agree with you. I think that type of video footage should go away. How long before they start including Directors and Producers as targets of the Me Too movement? If I was a young actress or actor, I wouldn’t want to do these type of scenes. How is being made to do this type of scene any different from being accosted by Harvey Weinstein?
My friends & I truly miss Eva Green & most of the original cast/characters of the first 3 seasons! It’a hard to relate to this new cast, era & approach. I was looking forward to more storylines from the previous seasons’ supernatural realm. Although Mr.Logan prob had few options to continue the show’s progression along those avenues, but was forever hopeful! Sadly, I just don’t find the new season to be overly interesting nor intriguing. I do believe, in this particular case, Penny Dreadful IS/WAS Eva Green & the situations in which her character portrayed, lived & experienced.Truly letdown.:(
I liked it too, but I was glad it ended because it was getting old. I would have been OK if they had used much of the same characters in this new version, but I liked the actors they had.
***YOU MUST GIVE THIS NEW SHOW TIME*** The first series of Penny Dreadful was brilliant + should have never been cancelled…I love the premise of this second series & how what happened back in the late 1930’s leading up to the United States involvement in World War II, unfortunately can show how history can repeat itself, especially with those currently “leading” our country…PLEASE Showtime allow the creator of this new Penny Dreadful time for it to develop…not every show has to start off at record setting speeds so to speak + just going by Nielsen ratings is NOT fair to… Read more »
This show is dreadful and that is the ONLY resemblance it has to the great original. City of Sngels plays like a histrionic West Side Story. It is NOT scary, interesting, or remotely watchable…
TRIED to watch this SSSSLLLOOOWWW ,boring show, its terrible, sad , because they have SOME decent actors in the cast, but it was excruciatingly boring, i could not care about any of the characters, none of them are the slightest bit interesting, i cant see this lasting more that i terrible season. they should have done another season of the original…sorry, but i wont be watching anymore of this bunk.
