What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Netflix subscription service, Sex Education stars Gillian Anderson, Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee-Lou Wood, Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Tanya Reynolds, Patricia Allison, Alistair Petrie, Chinenye Ezeudu, Sami Outalbali, and George Robinson. The show revolves around Otis Milburn (Butterfield), a socially awkward teenager who is ambivalent about sex — despite or because of his mother being a sex therapist (Anderson) who is frank about all aspects of sexuality. In season two, Otis finally loosens up but the pressure’s on to perform and classmates struggle with new issues.
Unless they decide to publicize viewership, it is difficult to predict whether Netflix will cancel or renew Sex Education for season three. Since Netflix isn’t ad-supported, it can take a chance on series it believes in and stories that need telling, but sooner or later it comes down to production costs, versus viewership numbers. Generally speaking, Netflix TV shows which are going to be renewed are usually picked up within a month or so of the series or season premiere. Personally, I suspect it will be renewed. I’ll keep my ears open and an eye out for news, and will update this page with breaking developments. Subscribe for free alerts on Sex Education cancellation or renewal news.
