We hope you weren’t too taken with the story of young Bryan Mills. As reported, NBC has removed season two of its Taken TV show from the schedule. Now, the Peacock network has announced the second season will resume Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 8:00pm ET/PT. Note two things about that return date: the network is moving the show from the ICU that is Friday nights, to the hospice that is Saturdays, and the second season of Taken will not resume until after the conclusion of Nielsen’s May Sweeps ratings period.
An NBC crime thriller, Taken is a prequel to the Luc Besson film franchise starring Liam Neeson. The Taken TV series adaptation stars Clive Standen as a young, but already lethal Bryan Mills. The cast, which was retooled after a flagging freshman season, also includes Jennifer Beals, Adam Goldberg, and Jessica Camacho. The story centers on Mills, as he and his team undertake rescue missions around the globe.
According to NBC’s programming schedule, beginning Friday, May 20th Dateline NBC, which typically runs for one hour at 10:00pm ET/PT, will air from 9:00 to 11:00pm ET/PT. Meanwhile, the Taken show page, on NBC.com, confirms the May 26th return date.
In addition, Deadline reports: “Taken already was considered a likely cancellation, and the scheduling move makes that certain.” While the network has yet to confirm that it has cancelled Taken, don’t bet your grocery money on season three renewal.
Taken: A Look at the Ratings
The second season of Taken is averaging a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.764 million viewers. Compared to season one, it is down by about 56% and 46%, respectively. By both measures, it is the lowest rated of NBC’s scripted TV shows. It’s really due to international sales that Taken was renewed for season two.

Can’t believe this! Please reconsider – this is an amazing show, great writing, acting, etc. The show was moved around a bit last season – Saturday, Friday, 8PM, 9PM. I do not think the rating data is consistent at ALL! You can’t cancel this show!

I absolutely love this show! Taken has a great cast, great writers, I mean, there’s not one thing I don’t like about this show. With all of the terrible shows that are on tv, why would you cancel one of the great ones?!?!

I am so upset. I love this show. It has a lot of viewers and Nielsen ratings are so archaic you should not be using them to rate shows. A whole lot of us don’t tune in when its first broadcast because so many of us have done away with cable in favor of things like hulu or CBS app to watch out favorite shows. PLEASE bring this show back. I love the whole team and want to see all those PMC’s not get what they want!

This is insane! Another really good show gets canceled and for what; are they going to replace it with another mindless reality show? If network TV wants to stay relevant and not lose out to cable, this isn’t the way to go. So once again people who aren’t into watching dribble are pushed to the side so executives can get bigger bonuses by hiring reality “stars” for peanuts versus paying for real actors. Or will try to start another sitcom that’ll last 5 episodes. Way to go! arrggg

Taken is one of the best series I have watched in a long time. NBC need to consider renewing this series for a third season and maybe moving it to another night for better ratings. This action series keep you on the edge of your seat and is unpredictable, unlike the rest of these shows. Another great show that will be cancelled in error.

MY HUSBAND AND I BOTH LOVE THIS SHOW. MY HUSBAND DOES NOT WATCH A LOT OF TV AND HE HAS BEEN ADDICTED TO IT. SO SORRY TO SEE IT GO . IT IS ONE OF THE FEW SHOWS THAT DOES NOT HAVE FOUL LANGUAGE AND SEX THAT IS OVER THE TOP.
I’ve watched taken and ransom. Ransom was boring and Eric looked liked a druggy. Taken was so exciting and Brian has the eyes of an angel
Taken as a phenomenally written show. It is one of the few shows written with intelligence. It’s sad to think this show is being canceled and there so much fluff left on television on the 3 major networks. The big 3 networks are forcing viewers to turn to cable television to views shows with substance.
This show is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a while! Really hoping for a 3rd season but NBC like many other stations doesn’t care if it’s viewer’s invest thier time watching a show and won’t hesitate to cancel shows even after only one season. Really hate this new TV climate!! Shame on you NBC…
