An ABC sitcom, The Kids are Alright stars Michael Cudlitz, Mary McCormack, Sam Straley, Caleb Foote, Sawyer Barth, Christopher Paul Richards, Jack Gore, Andy Walken, and Santino Barnard. The 1970s-period comedy centers on the Clearys, an Irish-Catholic family living on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Since its the ’70s, Peggy (McCormack) and Mike (Cudlitz) are raising their kids with a lack of supervision which might stun today’s parents, and now their eldest son wants to quit the seminary to go “save the world.” The times they are a-changing, and the Cleary family is not immune to the turbulence around them.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. I loved this show and cannot believe it has been cancelled after one season. I think the name was not catchy enough perhaps, as I stumbled upon it purely by accident. That is too bad, a nice clean story line. Wish they could bring it back. Thank you.
The Kids Are Alright is such a great show! ABC should correct it’s terrible mistake of canceling this goldmine of a show and sign on for more seasons!

Wow I mean so many huge hit TV shows didn’t do great in the first season like everybody loves Raymond and cheers and friends and even Frasier so many more I could list imagine if those shows got cancelled because the network decided it wasn’t worth it but they go and renew schooled which fine the executive producer is the guy who does the Goldbergs.. but I mean it’s not as good as the Goldbergs but I appreciate you giving it another shot to try to gain a bigger audience give the same chance to The kids Are alright stop… Read more »
Well….another poor decision by ABC. Cancelling The Kids are Alright… really? The program’s time setting brings back memories and laughs. What’s with these spinoffs? Come on….really…?? And though Bless This Mess is decent, it hasn’t been on long enough for renewal worthiness, especially over Kids… find a spot for Kids are Alright.

I really enjoy The Kids Are Alright. I see it as a combination of The Wonder Years and Malcolm in the Middle. My husband and I really enjoy the antics of the Cleary family with laugh out loud enthusiasm. I think people are really attracted to these nostalgic TV shows. YES, YES, YES!! PLEASE renew this show!! As a now 62-year-old watching this show, it hits EVERY nail on the head. My husband and I enjoy it SO, SO MUCH!!
