The Walking Dead: AMC Prez Likens Series to Star Trek

by Regina Avalos, September 25, 2016

The Walking Dead TV show on AMC: season 6 (canceled or renewed?)

The Walking Dead will return to AMC with its seventh season next month, and the AMC president sees a long future beyond season seven for the zombie drama.

Josh Sapan spoke about the future of the series at an event on Wednesday, and he thinks that The Walking Dead “has incredible long life left in it.” In fact, he thinks that The Walking Dead franchise, which includes Fear the Walking Dead, could be seen for many years to come.

Sapan went on to compare The Walking Dead to another popular franchise, Star Trek. That franchise will return with a new series next year.

Sapan said the following, according to The Wrap:

“[‘Star Trek’] came and went three times. We do think that we have a franchise [in ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Fear the Walking Dead’] that is one of the rare franchises that you occasionally come across in what we do for a living.”

How long do you want The Walking Dead on the air? Tell us what you think.

Their may be some similarities between both shows. Star Trek was , no doubt, a stand alone series. Very little competition, yet they maintained quality story’s throughout series. I’m not a fan of FTWD. Really don’t see apeal. You have major characters, their story, and o yeah, the walkers, I’ve got that already. Keep TWD going with good writing. Maintain the cast as best as story allows, and when time comes, several years from now, a quality finish.

Omg how dare they!!! Even attempting to compare FEAR the Walking Dead of all things to Star Trek at all is a total and utter disgrace and whoever said that needs to have a serious talking to. I respect TWD, it is a good show that has been on for years now and it did it all on it’s own back so well done. As long as Star Trek though is quite an exaggeration, this day and age we have so much more variety (and netflix), people get tired of shows more now than ever and their loyalty is tested… Read more »
