Did Whiskey Cavalier ever have a chance at a second season? Recently, ABC boss Karey Burke explained why the network briefly reconsidered the TV show’s cancellation, TVLine reports.
The drama series centers on FBI Agent Will Chase (Scott Foley), codename: “Whiskey Cavalier” and CIA operative Frankie Trowbridge (Lauren Cohan), codename: “Fiery Tribune.” Although they start off as rivals, they’re soon assigned to a joint-agency task force to root out corruption and crime and save the world. The cast also includes Ana Ortiz, Tyler James Williams, Vir Das, and Josh Hopkins.
Earlier this year, ABC cancelled Whiskey Cavalier after one season only to reconsider the decision before ultimately canceling the series. Speaking to TVLine, ABC boss Karey Burke said the network considered bringing the show back because of an email written by executive producer Bill Lawrence:
He was just so deeply passionate about it. He put his heart and soul into it. And he just asked us to take one last look. And we really did.”
However, Burke said a second season of Whiskey Cavalier was just to difficult to justify given the show’s low ratings:
It was tough [to justify] financially [and] ratings-wise. We ultimately just decided to bet on the future.”
What do you think? Have you seen Whiskey Cavalier? Would you have watched a second season?
I watched every episode of the show. I really liked it. I was sad to see that it had been cancelled.
Watched entire season. Started great but got stale quickly. Would not watch.
I loved the show!! I would have definitely watched a 2nd season! 3rd & 4th. The show was great!!
YES the show was great.
I loved the show. I was sad to see it was cancelled. I hope they bring it back for a second season if it’s not too late.
I would definitely have watched a second season. It had a huge following that was only growing.
I would of watched a second season.
I am really sorry to hear that this show has been canceled. I was looking forward to the second season
I definitely would have watched a second season. I loved the chemistry between Scott and. Lauren plus filming in Europe. I truly don’t understand the “powers that be” way of thinking.
Heck, yes, I would have watched a second season and even beyond. The characters were great and I was sorry to see the season end and then even more sorry to hear it was cancelled. It was a great, fun, action packed show. ABC has gone so far down on my list of networks to watch.
Loved the series, characters were entertaining and enjoyed the story line… Disappointed it was cancelled and there are so many “game shows”… That should have been cut.
Most definitely would have watched a second season. Why do they have to cancel good shows and leave on more crap reality shows
I would definitely watch more seasons of a really entertaining show. ABC and especially CBS are in need of instant gratification! Both Networks cancel their less than 3 season shows and new shows due to low ratings. DUH. I watch the shows post-airing on DVR or streaming services so my viewing doesn’t count in their Nielsen ratings It’s just idiotic to base ratings of live broadcast against streaming, delayed viewing … which do you do?
Please end the reality garbage … no more bachelors and ettes, islands, paradises and Jerry Springer type trash like Big Brother. PLEASE No More.
I so agree with you!!
Really liked the show. Definitely would have watched a second season.
ABC has low ratings because they cancel good shows like Whiskey Cavalier. It was a great show with great actors and will be sorely missed.
heres what’s sad. You have a show that brings adventure laughs action and qs an audience we get caught up in the story but because of time slot issues or the night it’s on or maybe another show being on the same time the ratings dont look good. The show was great and I wanted it to continue. So now we are left with crap reality shows which arent actually reality like the bachelor or love island. I will never watch those. It is staged and just a glorified way to allow hookups and sex on t.v. I hope the… Read more »
