What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, the Bluff City Law TV series stars Jimmy Smits, Caitlin McGee, Scott Shepherd, Barry Sloane, Michael Luwoye, MaameYaa Boafo, Stony Blyden, and Jayne Atkinson. Coming from a famous Memphis family that’s known for taking on injustice, a brilliant lawyer named Sydney Strait (McGee) used to work at her father Elijah’s celebrated law firm until their tumultuous relationship got in the way. After barely speaking to Elijah (Smits) for years, Sydney is suddenly thrust back into the family fold when her philanthropist mother passes away unexpectedly. In the wake of the loss of his wife and in hopes of reconnecting with the daughter he loves, Elijah asks Sydney to rejoin his Civil Rights firm and take on a chemical company whose product may cause cancer. Despite her lingering resentment and distrust, she agrees because she knows that working alongside her father is her best hope at changing the world — as long as they can find a way to get along. No sooner has Sydney returned than she stumbles on a secret that Elijah has been keeping from her that may change everything.

Telly’s Take
Will NBC cancel or renew Bluff City Law for season two? The ratings aren’t great and have been dropping lower and lower. A show that follows The Voice should be doing better. I think it will be cancelled. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. Subscribe for Bluff City Law cancellation or renewal alerts.

What do you think? Were you hoping that the Bluff City Law would be renewed for a second season? Are you sorry that NBC has cancelled this TV show, instead?
This is one of the best shows on networks T.V….how can it even be considered for cancellation….please let us continue to have something intelligent, thoughtful, well-written, to watch.
Loved this show. Please don’t canceling
I don’t understand why this show gets such poor ratings. The characters are great, the stories are very good. I actually watch this one live instead of recording. NBC doesn’t have that many good programs, it can’t afford to let this one go. If they cancel I hope another network picks it up. Just please not a streaming network!
I have thoroughly enjoyed this fresh take on the usual law firm show. Characters are very well rounded and developed. Stories have been intelligent and full of twists and insights. Highly recommend NBC give it another season. I’m sure it will catch on with a higher viewership.
Please bring it back. Its one of the best new shows on primetime tv. Give it a chance….wasnt on long enough to get a bigger audience!
We love Bluff City. It will be a true shame if you don’t bring this show back for a second season.
Bluff City Law is a great show with an excellent cast. It’s time for the network to support quality programs instead of the reality crap that is usually on. On BCL we see good people standing up for the underdog…this is what makes America great! Keep it on the air!
Please don’t cancel Bluff City Law – I Love this show! Why does nbc keep doing this? It hasn’t even given it a chance, please give it a full year! NBC did the same thing w The Village, never gave it a Chance. Pretty nearly broke my heart last year, and now you’re doing it again. Shame on you NBC.
I love Bluff City Law!! Each show has got a good story line and it gets better with each episode. Please do not cancel the show!!!
We love Bluff City Law, nbc should give it a chance. Just like When they cancelled Timeless, just enough time to like the characters and boom their gone! Why continue showing the episodes left and string people along?
It’s refreshing to watch real stories and not reality tv following famous people. Shame onNBC for canceling two really good shows.
Please do not cancel Bluff City Law, it’s the best show NBC had had in a long time. We that are older than 55 want it to stay.
Bluff City should definitely be renewed for a second season. While they (NBC, CBS and ABC) keep other shows that are not great they cancel shows like this with it’s great stories. Shame on them for doing this.
I LOVE Bluff City Law! The show is so entertaining and refreshing. The storylines are wonderful. I am very upset that the show might be canceled. I am hoping that this just can’t be correct. If it is please reconsider. This is truly an excellent show and very popular with everyone I know.
I am disappointed to see that Bluff City Law is getting cancelled it seems like just when a good series comes along, one that actually touchs the heart of humanity and what that may actually look like it gets cancelled. Everything is reality TV or crime isn’t there enough drama and tradedy in everyday life? It was nice with this series because even though they may not always win cases there are people that are willing to fight for people and see the good in them but I guess that’s why these series get cancelled because networks don’t want “good”… Read more »
I’m so upset to hear that NBC isn’t intelligent enough to renew Bluff City Law! I guess you have to be a half – wit or just fully lobotomized to endure the rest of their line up of shows. So sad to see an intelligent, interesting and socially on point show go down the millennial toilet! Thanks to the brainiacs at NBC, it’s back to cable or my DVR on Monday nights!
